Wedding photos on the green

Has anyone else encountered this situation before?

"We threatened to hit into them" ---Sounds like a nice group of players on the tee, threatening to hit into people on their wedding day.

 

This is the courses fault at the end of the day. They shouldn't be allowing people to take pictures there during play as it's obvious this could happen. I got married on a golf course, they brought us out to take pictures later in the day on one of the 9's where there were no golfers. You also can't assume that the people getting married are golfers or have any idea of golf etiquette, they are just getting pictures taken on their wedding day and potentially clueless to any of this

 

So , Courses fault for letting them go out there.

 

But threatening to hit into people on their wedding day? The guy that said that should be tarred and feathered i'm sorry

Take a par, and congratulate the couple on the way by. Gosh, people need to start taking themselves a bit less seriously.

My foursome had that happen a couple of years ago at Stoneridge in Prescott, AZ. We just waited for them to finish and then they waved us up. When we got to the green and after holing out, the couple asked if they could be in a picture with all of us for a memory. We happily obliged and wished them the best.

Not weddings. I have seen golf courses were hosting a party, party guests wandered onto tee boxes and greens for pictures. All the encounters were handled amicably. People are usually pretty pleasant to deal with unless there was too much alcohol involved.

The course should have sent a marshal to the tee box and let the group coming in know there is a delay.  This way the marshal can take the flack for this and diffuse the situation before these idiots started to think of stupid ideas like hitting into the wedding party.  Good grief, it is just a game and a slight delay isn't going to hurt anyone.  Many people are all to into themselves to he genuinely happy for someone on their wedding day. 🙄

You know, I agree with everyone that this isn't the end of the world and we should all (theoretically) celebrate the happy couple etc, etc, etc...

 

But if I were part of this wedding party and someone suggested that we take photos on the green, I would have said "Hell no. There's folks trying to play golf out there. I'm sure there are thousands of other places around here where we could take a good photo."

 

I always wonder where the voice of reason was during a situation like this. As @MtlJeff suggests, one would think that the club management or event planner would have provided that voice. But, apparently not.

I agree that a delay, is not the biggest deal in the world. Definitely should not hit into them.
 

If they really were left waiting 20 minutes, they probably should have called the clubhouse and seen if a marshal could hustle them along. 
 

it’s the course’s responsibility to do something about this.

i think the course cares more about keeping the wedding party happy than some random foursome. $50,000 trumps a few hundred bucks all day long. 

 

besides, those guys can come back and play again tomorrow. marriage is forever. or at least until she finds him sleeping with his secretary.

Something worse...

 

One day I'm playing in the afternoon with a friend from work.  We get to the 10 tee box and notice a wedding party with photog taking pictures in a very nice wooded area which happens to be next to the banquet facility.

 

My friend (who had been married 6 times when this happened, 7 now) started telling the groom to run away, it would never work, she will change, etc.

 

Quite possibly the worst feeling in golf...

I've seen this several times at the course I was a member at.  First couple of times the greens were actually damaged from the high heels of the bride and bridesmades.

Course should have absolutely had the info top players that this was going on but the they are still tools.

The course we got married at had an event coordinator who was with us for a good part of the day, definitely the pictures timeline. We went out to 3-4 different spots on the course but it was 4-5PM or so at night and he knew which 9's had no tee offs recently

 

Yes there definitely should have been some kind of event planner there to tell these people where to go

First off, the group taking the video were a bunch of Word not allowedhats. From the guy threatening to hit into them to the guy in the background saying "I want a free round". Get over yourselves. Relax and wait 5 minutes. 

 

Second, the only real concern I would have is whether or not the ladies are wearing high heels and causing damage to the green.

 

Edit: Ha! The forum software edited out my attempt at saying a**hats with $$. Too funny.

I swear guys who think every round is Sunday at Augusta or have such a tight timeline to get in a round of golf should look at themselves in the mirror and say how ridiculous they are.

Some friends of ours just split.  20 years, seemingly over a coffee maker.  He came home one day to find a Giga 6 sitting on the counter and four of her friends drinking lattes and espresso. 

 

I called it at the wedding.  My wife gave me credit on that one.  It was within a week of the last kid finishing college.

I’ve worked at GC’s and CC’s in the past, so I know about the photo shoots on the course. At one CC, we had a staff member at the tee box with a walkie to radio the party group ahead. And it always worked out.
 

These party groups are treated like VIP’s, and at times better treated than club members on that day. It’s all about $$$$$

I was wondering about the course perspective.
