Phoenix trip with my Dad January 2022

I am going to be taking my dad out to the Phoenix area for a few days Jan 7th - Jan 10th, the main purpose of the trip is to go to the Seahawks Cardinals game that Sunday because my dad is a massive Seattle fan. We are from New Jersey, but we are looking at playing two rounds of golf one being Saturday and one being Monday morning, we are staying about 15 minutes away from State Farm stadium just to the east of it. 

 

I been trying to find some good course suggestions in the area, Monday we want to golf in close proximity of the airport because of our flight, Saturday all options are on the table because of the fact we have a rental car.

 

There are a lot of courses to pick from obviously, we want a good experience  on the Saturday, being from Jersey we don't get the desert or the mountain golf (Live on the Jersey Shore)

 

Price wise I am willing to pay a decent amount of money but it needs to feel like the course is 100% worth it for the price

 

Some courses I have looked at 

 

* We-ko-pa obviously comes up in every search

* Verrado Victory course 

* Troon North

* Golf Club of Estrella

* Dino Mountain

 

 

suggestion's are helpful... How's the weather that time of the year? Probably pretty busy on the courses I assume? 

 

On Monday what are some good suggestions not to far from the airport in the area ?

For the immediate area:  Sterling Grove and Vistancia for Sat and Sun will be the best courses; another option is to consider Verrado (one of the courses) a little further west.

 

if you are just looking to golf then GCU and Lookout are a little closer to where you are staying, but both are just average golf - but am going to say no because they don't meet your requirements.

 

Dino Mtn is over an hour away from where you will be staying and way down the list if you are going to travel that far;  

 

Wekopa for sure, but again, that is far - so it sounds like you may be ok with this for Sat.

 

For Monday - Raven first, then Legacy or Aguila or Papago for proximity to airport.

 

So here is what I would suggest:

• Play Wekopa Saguaro or Troon North Pinnacle or Grayhawk Raptor on Saturday
• Play Sterling Grove or Verrado Founders early Sunday morning
• Play Raven Monday before your flight; 

 

Weather is cold in the morning with a chance of frost and then a delay - so you do need to factor this in....you could wake up, get to the course and be told it is an hour delay.  The time of your visit is right on the edge of this happening.  Mornings are chilly and then warm up nicely - a pullover is warranted.

 

Yes - courses will be packed/busy with all the visitors.  So for Sun and Monday - you need to try and get the earliest times possible to meet your schedule.

See above - Founders: better choice for visitors because of elevation changes, views, and desert

Quintero. Looks like its about an hour drive north from State Farm Stadium. It is worth the drive and the price of admission.
