Hey Arg, really have enjoyed your travel log and definitely use it as a reference for my own golf trips. I'm curious, have you stopped updating the Args Course Ratings spreadsheet, or is there a new one? Best of luck on your surgery.

Made it through in one piece. Well, minus a small chunk of my right kidney. Doctor said that everything went well. The pain meds aren't quite as effective as imperial stouts, but they'll have to do. Lol. They had to put a breathing tube, so the worst part of the procedure is my sore throat. I'm on a liquid diet for now, so my late dinner will likely be Jello. I'm going to ask for some barbeque sauce. 😁

 

Hopefully I'll be discharged late tomorrow, and then it's recovery time. I'll be up and walking tomorrow. I can't drive while I'm on the pain meds, so I'll be housebound for at least a week. Unfortunately the doctor said it might be six weeks before the can swing a club. I'll probably have to dig out my ClicGear, or gasp, ride for a short time. The horror. We'll see. 

 

Can't thank everyone enough for the support. Looking forward to a good night's sleep, although I'm sure they'll wake me up at midnight to give me a sleeping pill. Lol.

No such thing as “nighttime” in a hospital. 
 

I had a surgery during a summer of COVID….it was unique, as I was one of only a couple patients in that whole ward. Hospital had never been that quiet, ever!

Yes, Rush. Spoke with the surgeon this morning, and everything is looking very good. Will likely be discharged early. The surgery took a little longer than normal because it's a teaching hospital, so a resident was assisting. It'll be at least 4 weeks before I can swing a club, but since I'm not in much pain, I don't need the heavy pain killers, and can drive immediately. 

 

Breakfast wasn't bad, but it sure isn't brisket. I knew I should have packed a small bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's. Lol.

I just returned from San Diego ( went to play my 1st golf in 4.5 months) to play with my best buddy, 68, complete knee replacement the day after I left ( he walked 18 with me the last day, he needs both knee's done, no meniscus in either knee for 50 years and the left knee which he just had replaced had no ACL left. Since this is a golf forum I'm going to brag a bit about him and his golf. Only male in SoCal golf history to win the Mid Am & Senior Am and has shot under his age just last year!

 

The reason I tell the story is the doctor and past patients told him he'll have serious pain, need meds and will be off his feet for probably 4-6 weeks, I told him about my boss who had his complete knee replaced,@ 55, and was walking 1 week later, my buddy 1 week later is walking on his own, no meds and using a cane periodically, you Arg, like my buddy and boss are not normal you always want to walk and I assume are in very good physical shape, cut the doctors time in half (unless it's a stiches issue) Look forward to more updates!

Yeah, unfortunately it's an issue with the incisions in the abdominal wall. I have a followup visit with the surgeon in two weeks, and hopefully I'll get some better news. I am allowed to walk, so I'll get out of the house and walk around the block to keep the miles up. Can't lift more than 20 lbs, so I'll probably have to dig out my ClicGear for a few weeks.

That stinks!! They gave you the bread but forgot the BBQ?   You got jobbed!!   Glad it went well!

Arg, don’t rush it, take the time to heal up fully. Good time to work on the putting stroke…. 😉
