Phils new putting stroke

I was just watching some highlights of Phils win yesterday and he has a long grip on the putter and was using the armlock on 18th hole. I guess he was using it all day since the long grip is on the putter. Very intertestng.

I’m less interested in the putter and more that he’s gone back to less upright, a slight forward press, and a much smoother stroke. No wobbling anymore. Very nice. He should be able to do this whether using armlock or not.

These senior guys find a new way to roll in the ball into the hole   Maybe by the time he is 60 Phil might use Lagners  way 
Just shows how innovative the putting process can be   Never stays static in some players

Phil and Tiger are the ultimate ying-Yang. Tiger, same putter 99% of his PGA career. Phil every time a new grip, club, training aid, or putting technique comes out "So yeah, using the Claw wrist lock, left hand low method now and I am putting with a new Callawy UW".

Phil using an Evnroll Midlock putter grip at Kapalua that looks to be a little longer, but it looks like he's not anchoring on the forearm???  I'd love to hear him talk about how he's going about it....

He appears to be anchoring it on the forearm. I don't think he would be using that grip designed for arm lock otherwise.

I'm confused. I thought he was Callaway/Odyssey branded to the bone...?

It's just a grip on his Odyssey putter.

Yeah but even at that, I figured they would put the cosmetic whammy on it. Big ugly odyssey writing down the side.

Hasn't Phil used the same putter for 90%+ of his career though? I know he has used a few different putters (such as the Scotty Futura), but Phil mostly stuck to his 8802 style Odyssey putter. That's about as classic as it gets.

He will throw in another Odyssey heel shafted putter once in a while in the past but he is consistent with this style:

Same style but he does change putters, he also changes grip (went to claw, then tried left hand low, then tried claw for only short putts different grip for long putts, locks the forearm now,, and changes putter grip (superstroke, I think I saw a flat cat once). Not a ton of change but Phil is experimental (see two drivers phil).

 

🐅 has used the same grip and same putter for 99% of tour events. I think literally four different heads TeI3 97 Masters, The scotty that won 14 majors, the mallet he used in 2018, and I believe an nike method 001 at the open one year. All same ping grip. 

 

Phil's not too bad but compare to Harris English or Tiger it's a lot!

I watched him not anchor it one time.... hence my curiosity on his thinking

Na, countless guys under OEM putter contracts playing SuperStroke putter grips with full SuperStroke branding for a while now. This is no different. Non story.

Couldn't have known if it was once or many as I only saw Phil putt once.  Phil is always doing something different and would like to hear his thoughts....

Phil used and still using a Taylormade Orignal One during his win at the PGA 

 

In the Past he has used a Taylormade SLDR, PING Anser Hybrid, and PING Eye 2 Lob Wedge

 

I think he a Titleist 4 or 5 wood from the 90s at one point in 2010s as well
