A friend of mine just got a notice that Stub Hub sent out " Due to expectant weather and out of caution the gates to ANGC will not open as scheduled for Monday's practice round and all patron parking lots will be closed. Do not approach Augusta National until further notice". The next notice will be Monday morning from the Masters.

I went back to last year and looked at dmbolp's pricing.   Last year pricing dipped the weekend before and into Monday/Tuesday of tournament week then increased as there was more clarity on weather (for competition rounds).  Silver lining are one-offs dropping in the day of but now the floor is so high those one-offs get popped.

 

Hope the weather hangs in there tomorrow for the Monday patrons so they can get most of the day in.

I mean, I'd counter that paying 1500 for something that costs 100 bucks is also insanity but clearly people are more than willing to pay it. That's more than my 5 day golf trip costs me every year. 

 

I'll happily sit on my couch and watch everything in 4k on an 80" TV I paid 600 bucks for lol. Maybe someday I'll win the lottery, maybe not. C'est La Vie.

Sure $ is relevant. My argument tho is coming from the precedent of the last 5 years or so. Where prices fluctuated sure, but fluctuated a couple hundred $'s not thousands. Never seen this before. Breaking ground

It’s insane. We still haven’t bought tickets for Weds / Thurs and at this point will be hanging out on Washington Rd each day until prices (hopefully) go down later in the day.

 

For those who have been in the past few years, what are the odds of playing "hey mister" late on Wednesday just to get in and walk the course?

I’ve done this multiple times. 
 

my advice is don’t ask people leaving they have security watching for that in the parking lots. 
 

best chance is on the road in the morning and prices will mirror stub hub minus a few hundred pretty closely. But it is doable. 
 

I get scared when we start talking multiple entries later in the day. I don’t trust that very much

The only real answer I have is that Augusta really is cancelling resale tickets which is leading to lower supply and higher demand.

I wouldn’t pay a random stranger later in day, just “hey could we have your tickets” and see if they’d be nice. My wife did this about eight years ago somewhere out on Washington, not in the actual parking lot.

 

I’m assuming the licensed vendors would be trustworthy buying later in the day?

I've done it a number of time too, but not recently since they changed the parking, etc. People are too scared to get revoked in the future, i fear. Also, of course, many want to keep their passes for sentimental value...

Maybe option to buy next year.  You told us last night to not come anywhere near the course before 8am, then you surprised us with “LOTS OPEN!! Before that

Got in just before 8, horn sounded at 1130 we were at Amen Corner. Half hour walk back out to the north gate, house is 15 minute walk from there.

 

No idea why they waited to open until 8 when 2 years ago they were open at 630 or so. They knew this was coming so that was odd. 

 

Couldn't have asked for a better day though. Although oddly not many players out, certainly enough time and the weather was just fine.

 

But no I could not tell any huge difference at 16.
