I used to follow Bill around the Canadian Open at Glen Abbey, tough as nails with a stare to match

Same, I mean I want to like the guy, at times I actually really like the guy, then he goes full cringe every 4 months or so. He’s just a putz, no other way to put it. 😜

I’m not sure anybody with a brain thought he looked like he was on any real peds.

I don’t dislike Bryson.  But this almost rings of ego …… or am I thinking backwards ?  Are the Twitter bots accusing him ?  I’m not on there. So if so.  Whatever I guess.   But I just don’t think he screams peds.

You could have said the same thing about Roger Clemens or Josh Barnett (a former MMA fighter that popped on 3 separate occasions).  If you're not eating and lifting weights for hypertrophy like a bodybuilder, anabolic substances aren't going to turn you into an Adonis.

All that said, I'm not suggesting Bryson is on anything.  I just don't think the eyeball test is valid.

PEDs arent just about mass, many athletes are taking them to recover and stay healthy which allows them to continue training when the other guy has to call it quits.

Exactly.  Roger Clemens didn't look like Jose Conseco.  Powerlifters take steroids, like Halotestin, that build tons of strength but not a lot of contractile tissue like Testosterone or Trenbolone.

Make no mistake. You’ll never read me claiming to be a peds or workout expert.  I only last year realized that weights that look like “ plates “ aren’t 45 lbs anymore.  Or something like that.  I still don’t know. Lol.  Was probably 1998 the last time I saw a weight room.  Too much farm work to have to get it from the weight room after about then.

so yes. Eyeball test might be bunk.  But it’s funny you mention Clemens.  I watched baseball then.  And I said he was doing something as soon as he expanded.  Same with Barry bonds.  They just looked odd to me.   But again. That’s not anything but a feeling.  I never suspected Sosa or McGuire , even though they got bigger. Maybe their frames carried it better. I don’t know.    Bryson to me just looked like a kid getting a little flabby.

id say he had most of the speed all along. Just wasn’t using it , preferring to try to be accurate.  Who knows.

Ya, I be like re-reading Patricia Highsmith’s “Ripley” novels.

A killer without conscience who lives in grand yet understated style, succeeds in pulling the wool over all eyes as he conducts outlandish schemes, often for sheer amusement.

You end up cheering for him when he eliminates those deserving, but also to evade suspicion when he kills those who may merely inconvenience his lifestyle 🤣 He will use a boat oar, a bottle of Bordeaux, a garrote, whatever is handy.

And the best part…brilliant food, from across the “Continent”, described in detail ; )

Well? Are you gonna splain what that means?

Cmon ff, drop some knowledge yo!

😊

However, back in the pro-hormone days, we all kept a close eye on this process and used anti-aromatase supplements.  Adro, etc. the works was legally sold online...  Check out the bodybuilding forums.  This is always a hot topic.

In a nutshell per a search:

Aromatization mostly occurs when a large fluctuation of testosterone production occurs, such as when anabolic steroids are injected. The large amount of testosterone will be seen as an excess by the human body and aromatization will occur in an attempt to balance the new testosterone with a higher amount of estrogen.

Sorry for not expanding.  Aromatization is the chemical process of your body converting testosterone to estradiol.  This is how the human body synthesizes estrogen.

When someone takes an exogenic steroid that is highly aromatizing, like testosterone cypionate or enanthate, their body produces a higher-than-normal level of estrogen due to the abundance of available testosterone in their system.  While they're taking the substances, their natural production is "shut off"; the body stops creating testosterone because it is getting it from an external source.  This is why some long-time steroid abusers get shrunken testicles.

When you go off cycle, your body is still "shut off", so your testosterone levels drop since you're not getting it from an external source any longer.  All the while, your estrogen levels are still elevated.

Most body builders that are taking large amounts of testosterone usually take other substances to subdue the aromatization process.  Otherwise they end up side effects like gynomastia (fatty deposits in the chest; i.e. man boobs).

Yo, thanks for this. I think ss was kidding (as I had originally thought 🤣) about BD estrogen levels.

The report on the vid doesn’t seem to show any actual levels of anything. Just says “negative” to substances tested for.

BD didn’t need to do the test. There was no big suspicion on him. And one “negative” test doesn’t mean he didn’t use PEDs at times prior to the doing the test.

His levels wouldn't be elevated to any level to signal anything out of the ordinary. It most likely because of his fat gain, and carbing up if his levels are elevated

Where you see the levels? All I see on the report is “negative” for stuff. No specific values.

I was speaking in general terms, but my post was poorly written. Doing five things at one time. Looked at the vid and don't see estrogen anywhere in there while viewing in 4k.

I didn't watch the video , only explaining how elevated estrogen can be a signal that exogenous testosterone had been introduced.

I don't personally suspect Bryson is on anything...no more so than I suspect anyone else on Tour.  When there are millions of dollars at stake, I'll never put it past any professional athlete to seek a competitive advantage.

FM! You should post more often ; )

Rereading your earlier post, it was written perfectly clearly. I misread.

I was able to follow Glasson for a few holes one year at the old World Series of Golf at Firestone. It hurt my knees to watch him walk. For all of the medical issues he had he still won 7 times on the PGA Tour. Wonder how much better his career could have been w/o all of his medical issues and surgeries. He was strong as hell. He had a few decent years on the Champions Tour.

FWIW I have lifted off and on for over 30 years.  About 12 years back I went from 176 to 225 lbs in 9 months by eating a metric a**-ton of protein and lifting heavy, so seeing his transformation doesn't surprise me.  I basically took the same shape as Bryson (added muscle but just as much fat, if not more).  He doesn't strike me as a juicer.
