Playing Shadow Creek in Vegas?

So I’m seeing that you pretty much need to stay at an MGM hotel property in order to play Shadow Creek. I’m also seeing some options to book a hotel/golf package. I also know they strictly limit the number of players on the course.

Does anyone know whether you have to book golf as a package or if you can book a room in any of their hotels (and shopping for the best deal), then book a tee time at the course (assuming availability given their limitations)?

Your best bet would be to call and ask them, but when I looked into playing it this past summer the info I received was...

You had to stay at an MGM property to be eligible to play (didn't specify if it was only certain properties or any of them). Also, they only allow two foursomes of hotel guests out on the course each day, and that's limited to just Monday through Thursday. FYI the green fee at that time was $600. Not sure if it has gone up since then.

Your other option to get to play it is by "invitation". Essentially that means that you'll need to gamble five figures in one of their casinos and hope they invite you to enjoy a round at the course.

Good luck and I hope you get to play! We ultimately decided it wasn't worth the hassle...

I played it in late June when I was out in Vegas (yeah, hot). We stayed at the Bellagio and the concierge was happy to book it for me since it was a MGM property. The fee includes limo to/from as well. The day I played, though, my caddie mentioned that they were soon going to increase the price. Later that night while reading the news at the bar in the Bellagio, I saw the article that came out that same day increasing it from $600 to $1000. Apparently, professional gamblers and athletes are the majority of the clientele and have no problem forking out that kind of money for a round.

You can book any MGM property you want; then ask concierge to book your tee time.  $1000 green fee now.

Is Shadow Creek all inclusive? I was reading this article https://golf.com/travel/what-like-play-shadow-creek-when-average-golfer/ and the guy mentions "they have access to anything they want in the locker room, clubhouse, and restaurant."

Anyone have any more insight on what the fee gets you? Staying at the Aria in July make try to get on, not positive yet.

Access to, but you have to pay.

How is that different than any other course? lol They worded it strangely in the article. I went to the grocery store last night and was shocked, I could buy anything they had!

Ha, thanks for clearing that up though!

The fee gets you golf and I believe transportation to and from. Yes, you have "access" to anything once you're there, but that doesn't mean you still don't have to pay for it. It's not like a Sandals all-inclusive resort 🤣.

I've heard nothing but praise from the people I know who have played it. They say you really are treated like a prince, and it's rare to see any other golfers the entire time you're there. However, for me it's just not worth the price tag. I'd rather take that $1000+ (and that's not even including airfare to get there or accommodations for the rest of the stay) and put that towards an actual golf trip to somewhere like Bandon, Pinehurst, Whistling Straits, or etc.

The only time I could see myself ever playing it is if 1) it was paid for by someone else, or 2) if I hit it big at one of the casinos one night and had extra money to blow!

As others have said, at least in 2019 (the last time I played it) it was all access not all inclusive.  Also be aware the last time I played there were tee time blackouts, so check ahead that there are tee times on the day you are considering.  As a single I played solo me and my caddie. After teeing off I dont recall seeing another person at all.  For me the (then) $600 was well worth the solitude and access to an undeniably great course.  I loved the experience.  They dont pair you up unless you make arrangements, and even then I think both parties may have to request it.

I played Shadow last September.  I believe you can stay at any MGM hotel.  We stayed at MGM Grand.  All I did was call the course directly a couple months in advance to request a tee time.  They are going to want your hotel confirmation in order to book a tee time.  That was it, super easy.  As others have said it is limited play so there is no guarantee they will have a tee time available on your requested date.

I was fortunate enough to play it for $600 right before the rate increase, and for me it was totally worth it.  You get a limo ride to and from the golf course, and once you arrive you're basically treated like royalty.  Everyone was super nice, it didn't feel stuffy at all.  We only saw one other group that day, and that was Roger Clemens and his son on the first tee.  I can go more into detail about my experience, but then this post will be too long lol.

In any case, $600?  No brainer, cross it off your bucket list.  $1000?  That's pushing it...

Even if it includes a hooker $1000 is a bit much
