Want to have my Circa 62 refinished (again)

A few years ago, I had my Circa 62 putter torched. It turned out really well, but I'm not a fan of the constant maintenance on the putter.

I'd like to have this putter refinished in something that is a little easier to take care of and maintain. Any recommendations on finishes and companies that offer refinishing?

You're going to need a polymer, DLC, PVD, metal plating, etc because everything else will rust without care.

Can you post a pic of your putter. I am looking to get my circa 62 restored as well but on the fence if I should stick with original or try something different

Maybe it's just me, but most of the allure to the older carbon Camerons is the feel you get from a raw carbon head. Any coating you have applied may change that "feel". I can not say whether or not PVD or DLC would (I would imagine DLC may have more of an effect as it is a very hard coating) but I had a carbon head Cerakoted for a project and it became slightly clicky. 

 

Now if you want a finish that is essentially "maintenance free" you'll most likely sacrifice some of that pure, soft feel that many love about the Circa 62 line.

62's were made of carbon steel hence why it needs maintenance.  If you want a maintenance free route, I would get your 62' nickel plated.

ALL the Pro Platinum putters were nickel plated carbon steel and all of those felt nice and buttery.

I agree with some of the above comments.  I would be afraid of a change in feel going with a PVD or DLC coating.  The Pro Platinum finish is the way to go.  I have several Cameron's with the Pro Plat finish and they feel as nice as my carbon Scotty's in oil can or black oxide.  Problem is, finding a company that still offers that type of finish as I know Scotty and BOS no longer do.
To be honest, maintaining a carbon head putter isn't that hard once you do it for awhile.  Don't use anything oily and difficult to work with like baby oil.  Just pick up a can of Eezox gun oil or a can of food-grade silicone spray, apply a little to the putter head once you get home after each round of golf, and give it a quick wipe with a dry micro fiber cloth.  The Eezox and the silicone spray will dry to the touch and not leave a greasy, oily finish that is a PITA to deal with.  I use carbon putters all the time and it's really not that big a deal to keep them in good condition.

The first generation were. The Charcoal Mist finish of the second generation is actually a plating - and a lot less maintenance-intensive because of it

Holy s***, I got so busy with work. Here are some pics of what it looks like currently. Still planning on sending this out in the next few weeks for a refinish. I'm open to having some maintenance with this putter as it likely will be part of a rotation.

I love the way it looks. Can always strip it down when the patina is beyond your liking. I think nickel plating would also look very nice

As someone mentioned when you coat with the polymer finish or other it changes the feel for sure  IMO it feels very dead as compared to raw carbon.  If I were to look for maintenance free I would go nickel plated, copper or PVD/DLC.

That putter looks so sweet as it is! I would not touch it other than applying some gun oil from time to time. Like once very month or two. It will remove/hide some of the rust and deepen the color, but man, you have a true “one off” that no one else has.

Looks really good right now…I would just keep it coated w silicone or putter butter and the likes. I agree w all the others to say that any coating will change the feel and then you maybhate the feel of it after it comes back
