Taylormade Stealth fitting….

Was the Stealth head set at 7° and launching at 14.4°?

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

These numbers don't add up to me especially with a smash of 1.48 for each club.  For the Max LS, -2 mph of CHS  and 100 rpm more spin versus Stealth doesn't add up to 16.7 yards of difference in carry.

Those are averages though.  You're right, on a single shot it's not that -2mph of CHS and 100rpm more of spin equal that distance difference but on an average for all 10 shots it works out to be that.  Plus, those look to be trackman screenshots so I'd be pretty trusting of it.

This was an average. There were some bad ones in there with both drivers. The stealth performed much better for me on mishits. One of the things that was tough was going from stealth back to the epic because of the differed in head size and shaft.

Ignoring the averages, look at how much more consistent the Stealth was for you vs. the Callaway.  Every single metric was better.

I threw your averages in FlightScope Optimizer with no wind, no spin axis and medium landing surface.

Max LS: 252.5 yards carry and 262.5 yards total.

Stealth: 259.0 yards carry and 268.6 yards total.

2 mph of ball speed yielding 6.5 yards of extra carry sounds right.

🤷‍♂️ Launch, spin, and ball flight(curve) would have an effect on distance as well.

I get it if you don’t believe launch monitors, but I did this myself and this is what came out of the AVERAGES.

Nothing was altered, fixed, etc. I am not buying a new driver this year so I don’t need to fudge any numbers.

do I want a new driver now. Sure do. I’ve never seen ball speeds that high and I am regularly on a trackman/quad.

If your average spin isn't cracking 2k that club won't be super playable on the course

Based on spin standard deviations one could argue the Stealth would be a better on course driver than the Epic. For example, the lowest spin the Stealth was 1,810 rpm vs. 1682 of the Epic. Honestly, for my game the 1,950 spin +/- 150 rpm would be near ideal...especially at 14* launch.

Fitters I talked to today said the Stealth offers continued improvements on contact across the face so the average ball speed increase makes sense. Of course, the 2 degrees less loft basically explains the differences in metrics — the lower lofted driver producing a little more speed and distance is no surprise. More speed off a 7 degree face vs 9 degrees.

The head looks nice in hand. I do wonder how well that coating on the face will hold up after prolonged use. Stealth does have a very muted sound vs the SIM line, but it sounds really nice.

You can't throw averages of 10 shots into this and expect it to work.   The averages don't represent a single shot so they won't work out.  I thought this was common sense.

Dang that is a seriously upward angle of attack, that is what the LD guys shoot for. I was initially wondering how a 7* head was working for 106 clubhead speed but that certainly makes sense, hah. Those are pretty impressive deviation numbers for that type of delivery as well.

By that logic there’d be no point in keeping average driving stats on your game either.

That makes no sense.  Averages are good to have,  but since they are averages of all shots, you can't plug them into a tool and expect make the numbers to match up.   The person I was responding to,  was trying to do this to say his numbers are inaccurate.

You’re right. I hit the Stealth much better so the bad misses in the callaway skewed the averages lower. That happens when you use an average…

If I was in a regular fitting, they would have taken the Max LS out of my hands after 5 swings. Didn’t hit it as well. But my best shots with the Stealth were also significantly better than my best with the Callaway.

Here are some of the other shafts tested. We hit 5 shots with a bunch of shafts initially then circled back to Kai’li to dial it in.  All the shafts/head combos were at 9* until we got to the Kai’li because I was launching it much higher which allowed me to reduce the loft and open the face. That gave us the best numbers so we went on to hit a bunch more shots with that combo. I don’t have the data from that set, but I can tell you that there were multiple 159-160mph ball speed shots that were down the middle.

One of the cool things was how path and launch were effected by different shafts and feels. I was able to get my swing speed up with my gamer on one shot, but I really had to go for it and as you can see, it didn’t end well. I felt very comfortable with the Kai’li and even got a 110 club head towards the end(big time OB left, but fast😂).

This is what I said. The standard deviation is pretty consistent until you reach carry. Without the individual shot data that has since been posted, I couldn’t wrap my head around the difference in carry. This is why I used FlightScope Optimizer. Based on what FS spit out, it paints a truer picture of what his average performance with each club represents using the data points I plugged in. Now the individual shot data is up, it is very clear he OP hit at least one real stinkers with Max LS that really dragged down the averages for that club and made his standard deviation 2.5 times worse than Stealth Plus.

If you are not going to buy a new driver this year, why did you get fit for the Stealth, and why are you going to get fit for the Rogue in 2 weeks?   Just curious….

Because I like to know whats out there and see if anything is better. I just don't need one this year.

PS. the stealth arrives Feb 4th and I let my wife know that I "traded" for it.

but, i just don't need one.
