Rogue ST Max

Have about 10 rounds in the Max LS now and it is a straight bomber for me. The Max D was good, but too much left in it. LS is a monster for me. Playing it at 44.75” with some tungsten weights in the back and just feels like a hammer. The AD TP shaft in the head is a perfect combo for it, because I fit by Callaway of course. First time in years I will not be switching drivers for a long time!

So right now, I would say the Rogue ST Max with the new (for me) Graphite Design XC 6S (tipped 3/4") is just so good. 2 rounds with it and the driving numbers are an improvement over the Ventus Black 6S.

XC is Extra Carry, it is certainly living up to it's name.

I loved that combo of the Rogue Max and the XC.

I'm debating on picking up a Max LS from CPO but I've come to realize I hate the matte crown.

Glad I tried it, the thing is crazy forgiving and plenty long.. Tossed the stealth out the bag immediately

I’ll add some substation to the forgiveness. I distinctly remember hitting one off the toe on Sunday that I knew would not carry the water on the dogleg and was amazed to see in bounce in the fairway 20 yards past the water. No way that should have happened. Forgiveness of the LS is off the charts. And toe strikes don’t become hooking dive bombers, just still straight and plenty long.

Great illustration of how important getting fit for the right head is as well. The LS and TDLS don't mind being struck on the toe side at all, but the Max would likely have produced the feared dipping shrimp on a delivery and strike like the one described.

And Max LS spins more than Speed LS ??

I have never hit the Max, but was fit into the Max D and moved to the LS and they are both as forgiving and the LS is just straight and low spin. Not the most helpful info, just sharing.

I had both but the Max was 9* and the Max LS was 10.5*. What stood out the most was basically the face & head shape.

Think FLAT face on the Max LS while the Max had more curvature. Other than that, sound similar, distance wise, the Max LS when down to 9* had obvious fade bias. In the end, just a tad too much for me so I move the Max LS on and kept the Max.

Man, just ❤ my Max and GD AD XC-6S combo...super, super smooth, so well controlled and XTRA CURRY. Yes, curry, not carry 😂

Just paired this new Tour AD CQ shaft to my ST Max head. Numbers were much better at the range/data (smash, carry) compared to my previous speeder evo7 shaft I had. Looking forward to getting it out on the course soon. Felt smoother and better energy transfer into the impact.

Very interested in your feedback on the CQ, keep us posted. Last I looked it has very similar profile to a well know pinky shaft once used by someone named "Beam me up ******" 😎

Been hitting the same Tour AD XC 6S shaft in the Rogue ST Max LS head (10.5) and the Max D head (9.0). May be down to loft differences but I am getting really good results with the LS and even better with the Max D, which gives me a slight draw flight. Supposed to be a draw biased driver but it’s just modest heel weighting. Not seeing much movement left, maybe 5 yards.

The LS head did not spin enough for me at 9 degrees and some shots were dropping too soon, but it’s fine at 10.5. The Max D head at 9 degrees gives a nice consistent spin rate and is a little longer.

LS seems to launch lower (depending on the player, sometimes SIGNIFICANTLY lower) than the stamped loft would suggest.

Found that players with a "center to heel" strike pattern gel really well with Max D. Center to toe is another kettle of fish, however. I gave Max D a chance because I liked it's tendency to keep a bit more spin on, but the toe misses were calamitous.

That’s pretty funny. Almost all of my strikes with any driver are center to toe side of center. I don’t hit them way off the toe too often except on really poor over the top/stalled body swings.

Max D did great for me. An easy push draw. Just have to dial in the settings and tee it high. I think it’s better for me off the center/toe than the LS because I get the draw distance boost. LS on a strong toe hit fades for me, it does not spin back to the left, probably because on those I tend to leave the face open too. That’s the drive I seek to avoid — I hate the high right shot that then fades and gets worse. I don’t suffer from the hooks, more the high blocked fade. That’s the worst. Goes to show … you never know how different players will do. I don’t know that the Max D is any more forgiving than the LS, it’s just more of a Ping-shaped head, a different shape. I also like that the head I got does not look closed at address and is easy to open if you get a head that does.

I do think the LS launches lower, but we don’t really know the exact lofts on these heads unless we check digitally or they are tour issue. The lofts can be off by 1 degree or so from what the head says due to manufacturing tolerances. I picked up a tour issue Cobra Radspeed 5 wood that is stamped 18 degrees at standard but it actually measures at 16.5 degrees standard and sits .5 of a degree open. Kind of a perfect 4 wood.

AD XC is a soft butt yet also a firm feeling shaft, which I like. It does not feel much different from a Ventus Blue to me and those two shafts give me similar numbers.

Our deliveries and intended ball flights are different enough that our differing experiences make perfect sense. Highlights perfectly the importance of fitting/testing stuff. I drive it best when teeing it lower and path between 0 and -2. In hindsight, pretty self-evident that Max D would be a non-starter for me when struck from the toe but it was worth giving a run-out.

Another toe striker! Is it me or is the Rogue ST such an improvement over the Epic Max/LS line in the forgiveness here? I had the Epic Max LS, that was my dreaded miss even when I put the sliding weight behind the toe (fade setting).

Now, not a problem with my ST Max. Thoroughly amazing.

It's not you, Rogue ST is that forgiving.  I hit my Epic SZ pretty well, but the Rogue ST is so forgiving it's almost like cheating.

Totally agree. I find it amazing how different the results can be. One thing is for sure, the Rogue ST lineup has a head

to fit everyone and lots of options on how to set them up. I think it mostly comes down to what you like to look at, what your swing thought is and how much can you count on a one-way miss? Cuz we’re not hitting them all well. A two-way miss is a killer.

For me, I like to move the ball left and I don’t want to fear it going right — or if it does leak right, it stays in play. These drivers, if you put a reasonable swing on them, you get great results, and a poor swing brings better results than you sometimes deserve. I’ve looked around at others, played a round with a Titleist driver last week. But the Callaways are most consistent for me. I’m a solid iron player, so if I can avoid inconsistency and losing shots due to poor tee shots, I’ll score my best.

I dont know what it is but the AD XC is a fantastic fit for the Rogue Max heads.

The XC is BRILLIANT. Never tried a Graphite Design until I got a HD and then got the XC. Right now, the XC is getting all the love. I think your thread on your GD testing of the TP kinda inspired me to look into this brand. I have always love the OG Blueboard profile and this is a perfect fit, soft butt and all, it gels so well with my swing.

Seriously, this combo is putting balls in places I was seeing like 10 years ago when I was stronger then

Thank you 👍 & @OspreyCI for his XC feedback

Did Callaway cut the shaft 1" or was it done after purchase? Also, how did you get the swing weight back up to D2 or higher?

My Rogue ST Max with a Ventus Blue TR 6S came a couple of days ago.  I am playing this weekend, and can't wait to hit it.  I have been struggling a lot recently with my Titleist TSi3.  My typical miss is a heel shot, but recently I have been hitting it off the toe, which I never did before, and getting these horrible duck hooks.  Clearly a swing issue, but if I can get a better miss with the ST Max with my bad swing, that would be wonderful.

Same boat... The Epic max LS was HORRIBLE on any shot even slightly toward the toe...  Built one with a Ventus blue & had it in the bag one round 🤣

I Had actually overlooked this release because of that experience until the 20% off CPO deal snagged me.  Man am I glad it did.

Rogue Max LS has to be the best driver I've owned to date. Not quite as long as Stealth or TSR but it's WAY TOO consistent/ forgiving to worry about a few yards here and there...

Just sold my ST Max. There is so much to love about the driver, but for me the draw bias was a deal breaker I couldn't get over, I always felt I was fighting it from going left and ended up with a two way miss, even in the -1 setting.

Back to the G410 for now, trials of the TSR inconclusive and maybe a G430??? - but the Cally adapter system is the best around and also ties in with one or two shafts I've got lying around for it.....
