Just sold my ST Max. There is so much to love about the driver, but for me the draw bias was a deal breaker I couldn't get over, I always felt I was fighting it from going left and ended up with a two way miss, even in the -1 setting.

Back to the G410 for now, trials of the TSR inconclusive and maybe a G430??? - but the Cally adapter system is the best around and also ties in with one or two shafts I've got lying around for it.....

A truly neutral, big MOI, mid-ish spin driver with Callaway's speed enhancing tech would absolutely slay. Here's hoping that's in the pipeline.

Did you give the LS a fair shake?? Unlike the max it is more neutral & actually spins about the same as the max from what I’ve read.. (I overlooked the max b/c of its draw bias)

Did Callaway cut the shaft 1" or was it done after purchase? Also, how did you get the swing weight back up to D2 or higher?

I cut it down myself and added some tungsten weight in the rear cavity. Have it at D5. Like a hammer!

My Rogue ST Max with a Ventus Blue TR 6S came a couple of days ago.  I am playing this weekend, and can't wait to hit it.  I have been struggling a lot recently with my Titleist TSi3.  My typical miss is a heel shot, but recently I have been hitting it off the toe, which I never did before, and getting these horrible duck hooks.  Clearly a swing issue, but if I can get a better miss with the ST Max with my bad swing, that would be wonderful.

The toe misses on the max are amazing. solid start line right of target and it holds its spin.

The Max isn't really draw biased, more neutral than anything. LS would be a pinch on the fade side (a small pinch) What I did with the Max is opened it up 1 (in this case 9 to 😎 and with the higher MOI that loft launched like a 9 or 9.5. The Max is a seriously good head. Lots of looks on Tour as well. Only drawback for TOUR was spin. It spins a pinch more than the 💎💎💎heads. The face however is fast as all hell.

What kind of tungsten weight did you use?

I used tungsten blocks I bought off Amazon. There is a thread about it in here. Sorry, not sure how to link it.

I currently run the ST Max in the standard hosel settings @ 10.5. Would an amend in the hosel to the -1 position give me less draw bias?

Thanks!

Not inherently, but it will give you less loft if you square up the club face and it will open the face angle slightly which may promote a different type of shot for you. The driver head itself will still have 'draw bias' due to weighting.

Best answer with this sort of thing is always MAYBE; only way to find out is to try it.

This, and I'd say that assuming you deliver the club with the same face to path, lowering the loft could even make it draw more since less backspin means the drawspin part of the spin axis will be more pronounced. There's a reason higher spinning drivers are straighter.

To my eye the LS looked closed even in the -1 position. Notably more closed than an epic max SZ I keep as a back-up or the G410 plus in the standard position I've gone back to.

So I played 3 rounds this weekend with the ST Max, and I think I maybe close to having it dialed in.  I bought the 10.5 head, and play it -1, so 9.5 degrees.  It is alittle too draw bias for me, so I added lead tape to the toe, which has really helped.  I could now swing away and aim down the left side of the fairway ( I am left handed) and bring it back to the center.  While I still miss fairways, my misses are clearly better with this driver.  Other than one drive that went through the fairway into the trees on a dogleg, all other misses were within 5 yards of the fairway.  This is a definite improvement for me.  I gained confidence as the round went on today, and felt good standing over the ball on the tee.  I haven't felt confident standing on the tee in a few months, so this is a good start.  I have a trip to Victoria National coming up next weekend, so we will see how it goes.  If I could get a left handed Tour cog adapter with a flatter lie angle to reduce the draw, that would be great, but I don't know if they make them in left handed.

Sooo I ditched my retail rogue max back a few months ago and went back to the epic line - but CPO just got tour issue max heads in for sale so I jumped on one and wow what a difference if you need to tune the head to your needs with the adapter. The tour heads sit open and flat so this time I went with a 9* and im playing it at +1/D and it’s just high bombs all day long. I assume the TC 9* head is around the high-8* or so if it had a sticker based on the flight I’m seeing with it.

They also have tour issue max D heads

Amazing how different the look can be for individuals but it seems drivers are that way. To me the LS 10.5 — set up in line with my left belt loop — looks to sit square to slightly open at address. Same with the Triple Diamond LS 9.0.  And it’s easy to make them sit more open with hosel adjustments. I like to hit a draw, but I like to see the face slightly open at address. I want to aim down the right and know I should get a baby draw, not a hook. These heads are perfect for that shot but it’s also easy to hit a high bomb with a slight fade. The LS heads seem pretty neutral to me, not really a strong tendency either way.

I had trip diamond ls and it seemed extremely closed then anything i ever played. Thought i was crazy until my friend who consistently shoots upper 70s hit mine and said this thing sits pointed way left.

Very interested in your feedback on the CQ, keep us posted. Last I looked it has very similar profile to a well know pinky shaft once used by someone named "Beam me up ******" 😎

So have got in about 3 rounds now with the ST Max paired with my Tour AD CQ 5s shaft. They were originally sold out of the 5s so they gave me a loaner 6sr demo shaft until they got the 5s in (My swing avg. speed about 95-100 depending on how aggressive I am). The 6sr was also good but just a little to whippy/flex for me but still was able to hit some great drives with it in the few rounds I played with it until my 5s came in. And happy to report its an amazing combo for me. Just the right amount of weight and stiffness compared to the CQ 6sr, great smash factor, better launch, less spin/curvature that I was looking for. Before I had the Speeder evo7 5s paired with the ST Max and was averaging around 235-245 with some I could get some 270 depending on the course conditions and how hard I was trying to get after it. Now with the CQ shaft after 3 rounds I'm straight lower spin, higher launch, and averaging 250-260 and getting a few out to 280 when I really catch one. Very impressed with it and going to be staying in the bag for a long time. Very smooth, easy to load and turn over also.

Interesting choice to come from an Evo7 5S, I would have thought you would have been in a Ventus Velocore Red 5S. 280 on a 100mph SS. Sounds like that extra launch is a god-send for you.

Very nice 👍

I presume you are on a 10.5 ST Max? And any comment on your dispersion?

Yeah I was considering the Ventus Red and demoed the new TR Red but didn't really get on with it. Felt it was a tad bit board/rigid feeling like I couldn't fully load it properly to get the optimal results I was looking for. I Was getting some good spin and roll outs but not quite the launch/carry I was looking for. I think part of it was the profile being a mid kick where the CQ is a low/mid kick which is the same as the Speeder7 5s. I was also considering the Speeder NX Green. But I really like the feeling of the Tour AD for some reason, just really easy to load. Tour AD 5s seem to also be a few grams heavier than fujikuras which is nice. The dispersion is really good(Best I've had yet with a driver) more predictable than the speeder7. It's better dispersion than the CQ 6sr I was using for a few rounds until they got new stock of the 5s in for me. Also my normal shot shape is a cut and my bad miss is a slice with the very rare ocassional hook in there when I try and get cute and pull out a draw lol. According to the Tour AD Wood Shaft Chart the CQ promotes a high draw so think it helps me keep a straighter ball flight because it's easier to turn over like mentioned before. I still hit a baby cut but its much straighter and less spin. Again everyone's swing profile is different and might get on differently.

The Red TR is not for you based on your swing, its a touch firmer due to the mid section TR filaments, was thinking the original red, high launch and all. Doesn't matter, CQ sounds like it's the sweet, sweet spot.

Graphite Design is pure quality, thats what I found out. I'll have to try the CQ and set it up like an AutoFlex one day when I got nothing better to do with $400 🤣 until then the XC is King in my ST Max

I had a fitting yesterday. Going in I expected the TSR2 to be the winner but it ended up being the Rogue ST Max.

I hit up on it and a bit from the inside so high launch, low spin is a given. My bad shot is when I hit high/toe and I get the low spin quacker.

TSR2 had good ball speed (but no better than the Rogue) and felt nice, but had the the low spinner in there when I hit the toe.

The Rogue was super tight on the spin. Not one shot (out of many) dropped below 2K spin and not one reached 3K spin. For all Ping's talk about "spinsistency", my G425 Max ranged between 1.8K and 3.3K spin in a smaller sample size.

For sure, 3.5 mph extra ball speed and the sound/feel of the Ping was really beginning to irritate me even though it had 4g of hot melt.

Another weird thing about the Ping is I couldn’t tell where on the face I hit it because it all felt equally bad to me. With the Rogue I could tell exactly where I hit it so now when I miss it left I’ll know if it was a toe strike or shut face.
