Lot of these places have zero times available until you're pretty much not guaranteed to finish 18....on a Monday. And that's with a lot of the Snowbirds still in Canada.

IMO, this is by far the busiest it has ever been.  DRGA 50 Club fills up its tournaments (124 players) in less than 3 minutes,  DRGA is fulling up in a couple hours.  PMGA is getting 30 players on the waitlist for every every which are full with 124 players.  Very few times available anywhere.

I’m not in AZ but I agree.   I get the same feeling in north Texas.  Illinois courses got busier so they are now healthy, but not like what’s happening in the highest demand states.

I play a lot of the "value" courses during the week. My observations: compared to January 2021, tee sheets are more packed, less of the younger WFH crowd is playing on weekday mornings, and more of the age 50+ snowbird/tourist crowd is playing. Weekends are a total madhouse with the snowbirds plus the working blue collar clientele that can't play during the week.

I live south of Boston during season tee times for 1 or 2 can be difficult on weekends. Im off Thursday with every other Sunday off. Thursday in June, July and August can be tough to get out as a single

Last summer in Nova Scotia getting times was very hard. Lots of new players taking up the game. Hope they all give up before April haha.

I booked and went on a buddy's trip to Mesquite, NV early March last year. Had a great time. Got in touch to do the samething for 2022, there were no condos available to stay in for our 12 man group. I called to set this up in late October 2021. So we are stuck staying at a casino hotel instead. Luckily we got tee times. The guy we booked thru said he has never seen it this busy.

The rates across the state are just insane right now, for the first time in my life I’m actually losing interest in the game not because of other hobbies or interests, but it’s no longer fun doing the fight for tee times, or settling for s**tholes like Apache creek, or the east valley cheap ones like toka sticks, which is still $70. No thanks.

 

Probably a tournament/outside event going on at Aguila that day if nothing at all was available until 3pm when you went on at midnight. The bots only seem to be concerned with booking the very early tee times like before 9am. lol.

New member here.  Spent the last three months planning a trip (Mar 3-7) for a dozen ex-college golfers from PA, and I can tell you that it's been interesting scoping out availability and prices.  Booked WeKoPa Saguaro early on, $255 non-negotiable.  Then got Verrado Founders Sat morning for $130, a rate that has only increased in the interim, so happy with that cost.  Mountain Shadows was $65 well in advance for our Sat afternoon skins game, but again those prices only increased.  Have Southern Dunes booked for Sunday afternoon at $155, but only after watching it daily and snagging that price (has been over $200 on many occasions, might come down one more time if I am lucky, and since it is not prepaid it is easy to change).

 

Didn't even think about trying for Aguila until the last minute, was able to get two spots at 7am for a Thursday warm-up, but there are four of us arriving early so unless the other two spots are cancelled (and I'm right there to grab them) we will go instead to play Wigwam Gold ($144).

 

Needless to say, it is an expensive proposition.  But it looks like we will have excellent weather, which beats the mini ice storm we had this morning!

I did the same this morning. Set an alarm for 11:55 pm. Used the 9 day window with the city card at Aguila. I got on right at 12:00 a.m. and had everything available or so it seemed. I saw a time I wanted before 9:00 am and got it. This was for next Sunday. One other time I had to click on several times before I got one. Apparently if someone got to that time a few seconds before you, it still shows up but doesn't go away until they finish the booking. Just my experience...

 

Also, I joined the Sunday league at Toka just so I didn't have to fight for tee times every week. They set aside about 10 tee times each week. They send out an email each Sunday for the following Sunday. I reply right away so I get in. I play there about half the time this time of year. They won't see me June 1 - Sept.1.

Another random data point, I just learned that Westbrook Village (middle class age restricted golf community, private in the winter but semi-private in the summer) now has a waiting list for golf membership with 70+ people on it. Yikes.

 Have they built more homes on the property?
 

 Viewpoint in the east valley is more than likely going that private/semi route next prime season, they do double- double shotguns mon-fri and members/residents are saying they can’t get tee times now that they have fully built all residences.  
 

 

 

Bonus I was able to get an aguila time for next Sunday, booked at 12:05 and got 1142  ha

No, that development was completely built out like 20 years ago. Guess all of a sudden they have a lot more golfers and they are playing more often, both people living there and in the surrounding community. My acquaintance said getting a tee time was getting tough even with 36 holes, and they enacted a membership cap/waitlist to ensure the existing members could get to play on any given day in winter. Wasn't a problem he ever had before in the past 10+ years he's been there. They were also looking to do away with their discounts for the public during the summer because they don't need the money and the public players trash the course.
