Do you know the reason why they felt the need to switch out the turf variety on the greens? Having played both courses since they opened I absolutely loved the old greens and the bouncy play they provided. I haven't heard anything good about the replacement turf since it went in (haven't had a chance to play on them yet).

I don't know. 

 

I played them probably <6 months before the redo started and the old greens seemed great at the time. Firm but reasonably receptive, rolled true, good conditions and seemed to hold up to heavy play.

Heading to streamsong on May 4, 2022… Was told that black fairways have been treated since April 12 and would be ready by May 1, minimal affect on blue greens, red greens more widespread. They are offering a 50% discount on red which is concerning.  In the major growing season so hoping it will repair itself.  Does anyone have feedback or pictures of the damage on the greens?

Friend is going late may and just got an email that now 50% off Red and Blue. So that doesn't sound promising...

Yeah, my concern was that it would be difficult for them to have only red infected and not blue....so we cancelled our trip entirely.   Too much effort and money to make the trip worth while even with 50% off greens.

Yes please do!  I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but I'm wondering if those discounted rates are also offered for public play and not just resort guests...

 

I'm supposed to be in the WDW/Orlando area late May through early parts of June.  Kinda wondering if I should still try to play one of the Streamsong courses or maybe come a day early to stay at Bay Hill resort and try to play there.  Never been to either of them

Just leaving now. If I were planning a trip I would definitely still go. Red greens are as advertised, but for $100 it’s still a fantastic golf course. 
 

black fairways have lots of spots, but we played it twice and I don’t think it affected my play once. Black greens were spectacular. 
 

blue is in good shape with a few greens having small spots. 
 

final verdict = worth every penny and I’d do it again. This is my third trip here and the conditions were definitely an issue, but not one that would effect my decision to come again.

Just went on a group trip this weekend. Skipped red, greens are in really bad shape. Played blue 2x and black once, a few spots on 3-4 of the blue holes had some issues edge of the green but pretty isolated and really didn't effect anything. Black greens in excellent shape, fairways had some issues but again didn't effect anything really other than looks and lotta cart path only. I'm glad we went even knowing the potential issues

Just returned from streamsong and here is the update.

 

Black, excellent condition although the greens and fairways are being grown out a bit so putting a bit slow.

 

Blue the best condition in my opinion with only 2 greens with any issues.

 

Red I thought was in very good shape with the fairways excellent and the greens where fine except for a few of them that had some bad areas.

 

this is my third time going and the facilities and service was the best so far. Had a great time.

They told us when we were there that they’d be closing everything down for a month to recover. Couldn’t remember the exact dates, but it could be that.

2022 AERIFICATION SCHEDULE

Streamsong will be aerifying all three courses in Summer 2022. The courses will be closed for aerification as follows:

Streamsong Red: Monday, May 16 – Wednesday, May 18

Streamsong Red: Monday, June 27 – Tuesday, July 19
Streamsong Blue: Monday, June 27 – Monday, July 18
Streamsong Black: Monday, June 27 – Thursday, July 28

Streamsong Red: Sunday, August 14 – Thursday, August 18
Streamsong Blue: Sunday, August 14 – Thursday, August 18
Streamsong Black: Monday, August 8 – Wednesday, August 10

They cancelled your booked outings but didn’t give you a reason?  Or are you saying you had tee times and they cancelled those times after they had been reserved saying there were no tee times available?

Yes I was there and played in the beginning of June.  Played the Red Course only.   Were they 100% perfect conditions?  No.  But, it was still 50% off on Red and Blue at that time and thought it was a heck of a deal.   I thoroughly enjoyed red.   I feel like its very playable for mid-cappers on up.    My group also had two caddies, Nigel and someone else.   Both very helpful.  The caddies also help keep up pace of play. Would encourage the use of a caddie if you can.   Hoping to get to go back someday to also play blue and black courses.

Good to hear. We are playing all 3. Going next Wednesday through Sunday. Hoping everything is in better shape than late Spring.

Bad as in eye sores or so bad you had to move the ball to an area that had grass?

End of May.  It didn’t bother me but I’m not a conditions guy.  I wanted to see the design.  I’m sure they’re well aware of it.  The greens are excellent.

I called Streamsong yesterday and they said Red is at 90% now. They said Black fairways are the most effecting but still playable. Blue sounds like it is fire right now.
