Picking a Vice ball

Hi all.

 

I'm looking into buying some vice balls and have narrowed it down to the pro zero or the tour.

 

Anybody here played both and have any pros or cons of either....

 

I currently have been playing the Qstar tour.

 

Any info, questions or InSite is appreciated.

Pro Zero is cheaper. I would try it first, and if you like it, easy decision. If you are underwhelmed, try the Pro or Pro Plus. Gotta hit around the green to see if it will work for you. I am a Snell MTB guy personally, but the Vice balls are certainly quality product. Zero is made by Feng Tay in Vietnam reportedly.

Pro Plus - X series ball. Lively feel. Good overall distance. A step down from the best in terms of control. Faces tough competition at the price point.

 

Pro - V1 series. Three generations ago, this ball was outperformed by many of the competitors. It has been tweaked to the point that it’s a very good ball indeed. Very comparable to the Maxfli Tour.

 

Pro Soft - One of the few “tweener” compression balls, similar to the B-RX. Has a better, less arching trajectory than true Soft balls such as the Chrome Soft and Q-Star Tour. An under appreciated model for those with tweener swing speeds.

Pro Zero - Interesting ball in a lot of ways. No personal experience. It has a V1-level compression with an X-series dimple pattern, making it spec like an AVX or V1 dot model. Reports are that it does act like an AVX. While the price point may be directed at Walmart sales, it still should be getting traction as a “daily player” among better golfers.

The Pro Soft is going to be the closest to what you’re playing. The Zero will be firmer but spin more, the Tour will be firmer also, but spin less inside 100yds compared to what you’re playing.

The pro soft on the site says for slower swing speeds..... My driver usually goes 250-260ish is the right conditions. So not sure if that was gonna be the right fit..

 

Also I tend to pick the ball rather then trap and take a large divot...

Im leaning towards the pro zero but wondering if the fused cover is really a large step up from the vice tour with the surlyn cover?

It’s the same compression as the Q star. Don’t use the swing speed numbers to fit a ball. It’s been proven to be not accurate.

Pro Zero is a good performing ball. My complaint is that I didn’t love the feel. Had a clicky type feel, especially with the putter. For the price they are a good option though. 
 

I tried the Tour just to see what it was like and didn’t care for it at all. Didn’t have much spin on green side shots which left me feeling like it had no control. 
 

I like both the Pro and Pro Plus, but stick with the Plus because it fits the spin range that I’m looking for better. 
 

I’m a big fan of the Vice balls. I think they are good performers at a much better value than the big brands. The catch is that you really have to buy multiple dozens to get the price down to make it worth it.

I play the Pro Soft, seems to be as long as anything, holds greens fine, feels good off putter. Chose it off recommedation from website. Pro alittle to hard for my taste.

I went with the budget ball- Vice Drive. $12.99 a dozen for five dozen was a deal. Right know there’s a coupon code - freedozen and you get 6 dozen for the price of five. Generally, I’m unfaithful to my golf ball and 5 dozen anxiety causing. But I can spin even a two piece all over, so I’m giving it a whirl. Only used them on a sim so far but good results. 
 

the Zero is very intriguing. If they make it yellow or lime…

I haven't played the pro zero but I did play the tour and was pretty underwhelmed. I didn't like the feel at all and felt like I lost some distance as well. I think the pro zero would be closer to what you're currently playing.

I just bought 5dozen (plus one free dozen) more of the pro zero. I’m a big fan of that ball.

You can also mix and match your 5 dozen also and still get the multiple discount. So if you wanted to try a few different ones you can. Nothing substitutes getting them out and comparing them yourself.
