My bag is currently in transit from Florida, so should be able to do the putting data Friday. Did you do yours on a mat indoors or on grass ?

Indoor mat at home. My mat is 8 feet instead of 10, but Jeff told me that was fine.

So yesterday, I had my PLD Virtual Fitting. 2 weeks before my fitting, they sent me the Ping Cradle. I hit a series of 15 putts that collected data on my putting stroke (closing angle, impact angle, tempo, lie angle at setup, lie angle at impact, shaft lean at setup, and shaft lean at impact).

 

Using this data, they made a presentation going over my data, as well as my biometrics to tell me why certain putters fit me and why others didn't. He presented me with options in Blade, Mid-Mallet, and Mallet that would fit my stroke, so while it was certainly driven towards the data, there was still options for personal preference to what fit my eye.

 

The top shapes they recommend for me were the Anser 2, Anser 2D (Tony Finau model, slightly wider body Anser 2), The Ds72 (Hovland putter), and the Prime Tyne 4.

 

After chosing a model, we went through all the custom options - material (carbon or stainless), finish, engraving, alignment aid, shaft, grip, etc etc.

 

All in all, the fitting took about 45 minutes. It was a super imersive experience, and I was very much pleased with the process. They even said if I want to come down to Scottsdale on short notice, just let them know, and they will squeeze me in for an in person fitting and give me a tour of the place as well as the Gold Putter Vault.

These aren't my official results from the iPing data sent in, but just some numbers from messing around today. Apparently i am a pretty consistent putter according to these metrics

Pretty fun stuff - I'm concerned that maybe I had a weird stance being indoors on carpet , maybe it affected the lie angle? But will discuss with fitter.

Did you notice that the ipod touch added some heft to the putter? I could definitely notice it and then it was even more noticeable with my own iphone

Absolutely changed the feel and heft and balance - guessing we will address that? Hopefully? Haha.

however, im struggling with the design elements (colors, engraving, etc.). have no idea what i want, being super indecisive.

They go through that as well. And seeing the finish on a handful of putters on the screen gives you a better feel of what you like. It’s a really fun process.

I'm pretty sure the PLD Customs are made in Phoenix. They have a large machine shop on site. It would allow them to do all the custom finishing easier/faster.

Awesome example of the 2D - it's the putter that Tony uses: 

 

the Kushin H would be pretty similar, but the proportions are a bit different. Alex the fitter liked this shape for my closure rate a little better.
