When I was looking at the Vice putters Rick was flown out to look at them, and couldn't figure out why the mallet and the blade felt different... because they are made with different materials.

I’ve never really found his gear talk/reviews very in depth or compelling. He just regurgitates the marketing of each OEM Manufacturer. A true gear head would know not to put a carbon putter in a wet headcover 😂

Anser 4D. 1018 carbon, patina finish, 2° flat, 2° loft. Incredible experience at PING. Colton was awesome to work with. Could not recommend it enough.

Anyone done an Ally Blue custom and have some photos?  I think I read a bit ago that they’re not popular bc the customization is limited?

Ya I don’t know, I know with the Tyne there wasn’t as much customization as there was with other putters in their lineup.
My fitting a few weeks ago was amazing, and I really wanted to give everything a shot, but at the end of the day my putting was soooo much better with just the classic Anser.  But Alex was very patient and very informative throughout the whole process, and he let me test anything I wanted (which I did, as I wanted to leave no doubt for my weak mind haha).  My putting handicaps with the Tyne, Anser D, kushin, craze ranged anywhere from 0.9-1.5….but then the putting hcp with the anser was 3.1.  

He also let me go out on their outdoor putting green to real world test them, and sure enough, I for sure putt better with the Anser in my specs.

It’s cool to have a ‘one of one’ putter and customize it, but the whole point was to get better at putting with something completely fit for me, which I believe Ping/Alex 100% deliver on.  It was such a great experience.  I put my order in a few weeks ago and will wait till final product to get everyone pics.

 

btw I have done a club champion, PXG, PGA SS (x2 with SAM device) putter fittings over the years and ya, this was way better (and it should be).  Expensive yes, but IMO I would do it again.  I did in-person and for me the only way to go would be in-person.

Love seeing all of these PLD’s hot off the line. Wanted to chyme back in here and say that my PLD has been fantastic so far. Speed control ✅ Short ones ✅ Looks/Feel ✅. So glad I decided to shell out the coin. Nothing beats having a one of one putter and seeing the ball go in the hole. Cheers!

Hahaha. No one wants a valentines putter. It’s my bday so I thought it appropriate. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea.

The best part of a 1 of 1 is it’s YOURS, Make it whatever you want.  Looks pretty sick 🔥 IMO

 

did you get the carbon fiber shaft?  Looks like you did. 
they had me test the more rigid carbon fiber vs steel on 60ft putts and I did better with the more rigid shaft.

That’s just the black steel shaft. I don’t think I tried the carbon fibre one.

Unusual, but I can't find anything about this, even with Google.

 

Do PLD putters, in this case specifically, a DS72 Satin, have color codes/colored dots on them for lie angle ?

 

If so, where is it ? I can't find it.

The color codes are on build sheets if custom ordered just not on putters. Assume off the rack are all black dot.

you have to use the ID number, and if it’s been adjusted after market that wouldn’t be accurate

Just wanted to make sure. I'm very confident the putter is black/standard lie. I usually have a pretty good feel for this sort of thing.

I flat told them a classic putter like the b60 had to have ping in the cavity. 
they got back to me a few days later and said they would do it as long as I understood it would add a few weeks. 
they also agreed to just put PLD on the face without the block milled out around it

I ended up getting a Tyne 4 putter because of this. It was simpler just to buy it since the hosel is different than the stock PLD Tyne, and I liked it so much on my PLD Anser

Not a custom but any word on if Ping will have a limited PLD release this year? Last year we got an Anser 30 and the Hovi Edition DS72. I am hoping that we see more of these limited releases that are in between the OTR PLD range and a full custom for the Ping enthusiasts. My wish list would include an H neck Tyne or Piper, or a Corey Conners ZT Ally Blue

I'm thinking about making my Kushin 4 longer - does anyone know what the ID/OD of the shaft I need is?  I Prefer to reshaft over extend.  Or should I just send it back to Ping?
