Anybody have any thoughts on cushioning in the Alphacats compared to the Articulates.  I love my Alphacat pair and tried on the Articulates at the store felt the cushioning was not quiet as comfortable. Has anybody played a round in both of them?

I appreciate this forum. I just spent a few hours at PGA TOUR Superstore testing all sorts of shoes, and in the end, I got two pairs of the IGNITE PWERADAPT Caged shoes. It is the older model I think because they were discounted and shoved in the back behind other pairs of Puma shoes. It only has 1 year of waterproof warranty, which is not my favorite. But the shoe is extremely comfy! I am much closer to the ground in these shoes than others like Adidas, New Balance, FootJoy, Under Armour, and Sketchers. I had to go with the spiked version because I don't like spikeless shoes. It might just be because I've worn spiked shoes all my life, but I just have more peace of mind knowing I've got spikes on. Their 2022 models advertise a new fit, and I was very disappointed in it. They felt so much more snug than these shoes that I went with. Narrower and shorter toe box left my toes feeling cramped, but this old style is great. Hoping they perform as good as they feel.

Don’t seem to be needed, they have excellent grip, have played in rain several times, no slipping

I don't use spikeless except when practicing or range work off mats.  I really need all the grip I can get.

not being a jerk; but for what, exactly?

 

i swing my driver 130+ and have never slipped, and i play in sneakers.

I haven't had that experience. I slip every now and again with spikes. I dislike the spikes that come with Puma shoes and usually switch them out with the most aggressive soft spikes I can find.

right, but what do you feel you need all of that traction for?

Ground forces, balance, solid strike, etc... slipping pretty much = bad shot.  Your shoes are your only connection to the ground and it needs to be secure. There is a reason many tour players still use spikes vs. spikeless.  The ones that do play in spikeless tend to be the smoothest swingers which isn't me and never will be.

interesting. different strokes for different folks i guess. 

 

i’ve got an aggressive transition, lots of speed, and i’ve never once worried about my feet slipping out from under me. 

 

i gave up on golf shoes entirely last year. regular sneakers are more comfortable and most golf shoes are ugly

Just grabbed some Alphacats today. Was a big fan of the poweradapt caged but I hated how the top mesh part would get so dirty. Alphacat seems to have solved this.

Yeah, I think that price is the same everywhere. I got mine at Carl's because I wanted to see them in person and try them on.

for anyone on the fence I recently got a pair of Proadapt Delta's and now have played several rounds with them. Thus far they are fantastic. Comfortable, and I actually like that the tongue is connected to the side and it doesn't move. Spikes seem sturdy and traction has been great. They also clean up very easily. So far, a good purchase.

I have bought 5 pair of the PWRADAPT Alphacat, LOVE them! I do wish they had them spiked, only had one issue with slippage so far.
