Artisan upcoming irons

Meant to ask this when I first read it but why doesn't Scottie just game Artisan Wedges like he used to when he was on the KFT. Idk what his Titleist deal entails (p sure it might be j ball and putter cuz when he won the Masters Aaron Dill wasn't able to tag him in his post which means he doesn't get paid to game Vokeys) but I feel like it's a big middle finger to Aaron Dill who may not have the same # of years in the industry as Mike Taylor but is almost as talented. I feel like the whole point of hiring a guy like Aaron to be at every single event is so Vokey/Titleist can have all of their tour work done in house without having to ship out some of their clubs to a guy like Mike.

 

I totally understand why TaylorMade ships out their stuff cuz they don't have dedicated wedge grinders and guys who work for the OEM that have as much input in wedge design as the tour players do, but Titleist doing that for Scottie doesn't make sense to me

Meant Scottie Schefler plays the TW irons. Have to be the same id think to Tigers. He loved his old Nike clubs so makes sense.

I've reached out to them and they said they have no plans for lefty anytime soon. Focusing on their irons next.

just think a basic wedge head is $330 I think off the top of my head so I can imagine it would be similar.

 

I bought a i59 3 iron to go with my blueprints and I was shocked how much it cost in the end, £250 ish I think.

I asked them and they said it will be couple more bucks than the wedge head. so I guess 380-400/head

They've said lefty wedges are coming sometime after irons.

Forgings are the number 1 reason that many forged clubs don't come left handed. You have to create an entirely new one for every head, and that's incredibly expensive. you can't just flip it horizontally and call it a day. All that would do is start banging metal into the flat back of the forging, and the only thing that'd accomplish is ruining both the forging and the billet. Maybe the hammer, too.

Just did a wedge fitting and I got to try all three offerings of their irons. 

MB, HMB and CB. HOLY BUCKETS. And I am ordering some when my # on the list is called upon. 

Pricing is less than what has been quoted here before, little more than their wedges but less than $400 a head.

The way they said it, maybe even longer. I think it could be 2-4 years until I get called.

They are considering a raw release at some point that will be hand ground by MT. This will be AFTER the initial line launches. The irons will be the same as the limited Japan release minus the finish. It'll be Satin for the US version vs. half/half of the JP, might be slight adjustments to the back of the iron for looks. They will be utilizing the same manufacturing plant that Miura uses. 

 

I'm playing the HM's - they are extremely good and special irons...just feels right, the weighting is perfect.

They said the biggest issue with lefty wedges is that the manufacturers will require them to order a certain minimum number of heads; below that point it's not financially sensible/viable for the manufacturer to produce a run of lefty heads. 

 

So Artisan needs to feel comfortable that they can subsequently sell that much lefty volume.

 

I am the first lefty customer so I am hopeful that someday we will see it come to fruition but I'm not holding my breath.

They do good work even if you they can't get you into their own wedges. Grinding your wedges a little better for you is awesome. Great experience.

I emailed them and they said irons for the “public” are a long ways away. I then asked about getting on the “list” and they stopped responding lol

Won't get on the list unless you get fitted for either wedges and/or putter. Or you know someone on the inside and by that I mean you are a Tour player. LOL

The "List" you speak of means the Player Number List. Everyone who buys wedges or a putter gets their own Player Number once the order is made, in ascending order. The irons will be made available for fitting to those with Player Numbers in order from 0002-whatever is current. If you don't already have a player number, think in the 1500's range or higher. You can't get on this "list" without a Player Number, because the list of Player Numbers IS the list.

You are quite correct! My number as of last Saturday was 1478. I am sure it is up to the 1490-low 1500s now.
