Just like the title says. Your favorite driver shafts ever. Which magical unicorn shaft is your personal GOAT? What old shafts did you have longest?

ATMOS Limited Edition 1 of 117 6x (I have #106 that I refer to as the RWB). It’s a custom profile that sits between the Blue and the Black, sound familiar?

It’s still I’m my normal rotation that gets tested with every new driver.

I’ve never heard of this shaft. I know about the atmos line but not that limited edition one! Do you get good numbers with it?

Also known as the Folds of Honor Patriot Edition (some refer to it as the US Open shaft, they have "FOH" in the model number) -> https://fujikuragolf.com/woods/atmos-tour-spec

It essentially sits between the Blue and Black (just like the Ventus TR that I'm really getting along with so far). My spin/launch was a touch high with my G400 in a standard Blue but I never did get along w/the Black. I was able to snag a Patriot and counter balanced it a touch and it made a significant difference. What was a good combination (G400/Blue), became a phenomenal combination (G400/RWB). I really like this shaft and played it in my Sim2 for a while as well. It plays at just a touch over 45" where I have it cut so I've been searching for another one that I can play at 45.5".

I just installed a 7x RWB in a 16.5' TEE 721 Pro and am really looking forward to seeing how it performs in a FW wood. I'm not sure why but the 7x is labeled "Patriot Edition" but it doesn't have the "Limited Edition" etching like my 6x. The graphics are slightly different as well so I wonder if they expanded on the initial offering of 117? My understanding is that they initially made only 117 of each weight/flex (936 total). If I remember correctly the significance behind the 117 is because the ATMOS was introduced in 2017 and this was a limited edition shaft released that year around US Open time (which, combined w/the RWB color scheme, is why this was commonly referred to as the "US Open" shaft).

This is awesome! I found a few options. That’s 5X looks soooo interesting as a bomber shaft. The Pro63 looks so cool with the graphics!

Grafalloy Blue. One of the things has been in the driver since... well, pretty much since it came out. Almost Henrik-like devotion.

A close second would be the Sandvik titanium. I played that shaft in a couple of TM Burners and a Cobra Deep Face from my mid teens into my mid'20s.

Graphite Design YS6+, UST IROD, and whatever the Speeder was that Cobra put in the X Speed Pro S drivers.  I have never been better with a driver than I was back in the day with that Cobra.  I've though about getting another one for nostalgia, but it was just too loud.  You almost needed earplugs.

Graphite Design YS 7+ and Aldila NV were game changers for me.  First driver shafts that didn't give me low hooks when I went after it.

Among more current shafts, Aldila Tour Green and Diamana 'ahina stand out.  Stable but not boardy.  'ahina is probably my favorite shaft ever.

Loved the YS6+ in my 905R back in the day! I remember my high school golf coach had that driver. SO loud! He also had a G5 that Hunter Mahan gave him (they played college golf together). The shaft in that thing was like rebar but I remember LOVING hitting it. I could only hit bombs with it bc it was formerly used by a PGA tour player and it just had that magic 🪄😂

Those Cobra speed series drivers are, to me, the best drivers ever made. Regardless of how hard I tried it was always a straight high bomb right at the fairway.

My memories of those from my teenage years are exactly why I play Cobra exclusively in the woods right now.

You are right though, those things were absolutely and unapologetically the loudest driver I've ever heard. I loved it when I was 13 lol

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I'm guilty of buying drivers that aren't necessarily amazing just because they have a Graf Blue in them. Great shaft.

It's a combo for me.  For many years my favorite driver was Titleist 905S 9.5 with a "fully inserted" Grafalloy Blue Tour S.

Now TSR2 10' with Fujikura Ventus Velo TR Blue 5 Series 58g S.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have two favorites and they are very different shafts

1. ProLaunch Blue 75 X

2. Fubuki Tour 73 x5ct X

I have an Cally FT-Tour head on one and an FT-9 Tour head on the other.

I do hit the Fubuki on a higher trajectory, but I love both shafts.
