Are Vokeys Worth the wait?

I tested a decent number of wedges earlier this year, and the Vokeys were the easiest for me to flight down. They definitely cost more, but for that reason it was worth it to me.

If you don't want to wait and desire to save some money buy the SM8 wedges. Still an ample supply in most stores and I have found no noticeable difference in the SM8's and SM9's.

Just got my shipping notification yesterday (order placed May 25), so just under 7 weeks. 

 

Pretty sure I was quoted 6-8 so not bad. Of course I'm leaving on Friday for a (non-golf trip) for two weeks so doesn't really matter...

Ordered SM9 Raw 56 (S200 shaft) via my club fitter on Fri,. June 3. No updates yet. He quoted me 8 weeks.

12 weeks and days.  Talked with them 3 times.  Super nice, no wedges.  Not shipping.  Not getting shipping confirmation tomorrow, so really going to be 13 weeks at best.

What did you order by chance? I ordered raw 56s and 60D with s200 on May 26th. I’m hoping they show up soon.

Brag: I found a mint pair (54⁰ and 60⁰) of Rtx4 on the bay for about $150 shipped.

I put them into play for more bounce situations bc my vokeys are both lower bounce (56⁰ bent to 55⁰ and 60⁰).

But are vokeys sm9nworth the wait? Totally assume yes. I feel like every generation is better and that's saying a lot bc I've played every iteration since sm4, and they've always performed, even when I wasn't at my best.

The rtx4 not so much. Great on a good strike, but penal on a bad one.

Still waiting on my My 8th order… Raw LBK with some stamping and handground option. Hopefully soon. Need to place an order for a raw T but pretty much know ill be paying for something ill get no real use out of till next year. Not much can be done unfortunately

Probably. Have a local builder install your shaft of choice built to your specs. Probably rake two weeks max from start to finish.

I always liked that S200 shaft. A very good offering for a stock stick. But, S400s, if you're strong enough (and most of us aren't), also are a very good balance to X100s if you play them. 

Vokeys aren't worth price or lead time.

I agree people play vokeys because they market a lot but they are not better wedges than any other major oem. Personally I have owned a few sets of vokeys and I much prefer the ping wedges; and the ping wedge finish actually does have some tech to it (better in wet conditions) whereas the vokey finishes are almost entirely aesthetic I think. Vokeys are good wedges obviously but yeah, you could pick five different manufacturers and not see a real performance or feel difference.

Mine were ordered on May 26th and I was told they are in production this week and I should have them by the second week of August. A little longer than I wanted to wait but I’m excited for them.

Not sure exactly what you ordered or what you were fitted for but most bg box stores such as golf galexy and PGA superstore carry a multitude of vokeys with various bounce/grind/loft/finish options.  My local PGA store has roughly 100 vokeys alone

I got fitted and then ordered SM8's from Golf Galaxy in the same grinds and bounces I was fitted for (for a little less $ too).  They arrived in 3 days.

 

Golf Galaxy can bend to any lie angle and shafts lengthened  - might be a faster way to go....

I’m fine waiting for mine because I ordered the Raw option. I’ve always liked raw wedges.

I just ordered a set of Vokey SM9 wedges from the vokey site/wedgeworks. Nothing fancy, though I contemplated artwork. I did add the flight lines because I think that's a neat feature.

I feel like the different grinds and bounce choices will give me a variety of options in different types of soil. 

 

The website said 6-8 weeks. These are for my bday to myself, which is in August, and I have some golf with a buddy in October, a vaca golf trip with spouses who adore each other and will hang out while we golf, so so long as I have them by mid-October, I'm fine with the wait.

As a data point, ordered 2 wedges from a fitting in early/mid July and they just shipped - so overall just over 4 weeks from order to shipping. Ordered standard grinds, s300 shafts and MCC Vokey grips, just 1 bent a degree. I was expecting closer to 8 weeks, so very happy with 4-5!

Step 1: get fit 

Step2: go to 2nd swing, find SM8 in mint condition with the matching grind and loft

Step3: buy the right shaft off eBay or golfworks if you aren't for into what comes with the club

Step4: bring to pro shop for adjustments and shaft install

Step5: profit

My playing partner was testing mine out in June, pulled the trigger late June ( 56 and 60 with x100s) and just got notice that instead of the estimated 8 weeks, it'll be the 2nd week of September.  So as of now, looking like 11 weeks. If they actually ship then. 

 

To answer the question, I think they're worth the wait.
