Aldila Tour Green

I was fitted into this shaft at 65g in TX and placed an order for a TSi3. Titleist says they are out and are not ordering this shaft again so I need to pick another shaft. What shafts do you guys recommend that fit a similar profile? I want to try to get close, and then if it doesn't work I'll likely buy a Tour Green and sell whatever shaft I order. I've seen a few old threads asking this question but here are the shafts I know Titleist has or will get soon that are low launch/spin:

Tensei AV Raw White

HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX

I'm not sure either of those are exactly the same with higher kickpoints

Driver: TSi3 8* Tour Green 75 TX

4 wood: Callaway Apex UW 17* Hzrdus Smoke 6.5
Irons: 4-PW 716 AP2 X100
Wedges: Mizuno T22 Copper 51, 56, 61 TI S400
Putter: Odyssey Jailbird 380 MH

I found the evenflow white to be pretty close to tour green. At least the hybrid versions. Tour green has a little more feel in the handle section. But very similar flight.

Titleist Tsr2 9.0° Tensei AV Raw White 65 stiff

Titleist 917f2 15° Project X Evenflow White T1100 75 6.0

Titleist Tsr1 Hybrid 20° Aldila Vs Proto 95h stiff

Ping G25 Hybrid 23° Kbs C-Taper Lite stiff

Bridgestone Tour-B X-CB 5-PW Project X LZ 6.0

Cobra MiM Black 50°v, 56°v, 60°wl Kbs Hi-REV 2.0 125 stiff

Maltby Ptm-4

Maxfli Tour X

You didn't list it but the Rogue Solver 110 msi is probably going to be the closest match if they have it available.

If the only choices are those two you listed, I'd pick the Tensei over the HZRDUS - largely because the later is a lot lighter than the Tour Green.

Tour Green 65 TX is 69 gm  (really more of a 70 gm shaft)

HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 60 TX is 62 gm

Tensei AV RAW white 65 TX is 67 gm.

What @Stuart_G said.

I gamed Tour Green for years, and also have a Rogue Silver 130 in same weight/stiffness.  Silver 130 felt more stable but also needed more effort to load.

Rogue Silver has very similar profile to Tour Green.  Silver 110 in 60X is 67 grams and almost the same torque value (3.4 vs 3.3 in the Tour Green 65TX)

Interestingly, Silver 130 in 60X is lighter in both weight (66g) and torque (3.5) vs either of the above.  I

I found same issue with RDX Black, it was stable but felt light to me.

Well I just spoke to the pro shop, and they said it just shipped but with a 75 gram tx shaft instead of the 65. Maybe they had one Tour Green left but hopefully the 75 gram shaft works out.

@Sankacoffee, if the 75TX doesn't work out, just put it on BST.  Someone here will buy it...

Yeah that’s the plan right now. My current driver shaft is 79 grams I think, so I’m hoping it will work out since it’s still lighter. If not I’ll sell it and buy a 65 tx.

I hate to revive one of my own dead threads, but I am on the hunt for a Tour Green equivalent for a 4 wood. I have the 75 TX in my driver now and love it so was looking for an 85, but I can't find them for sale anymore. Tensei AV White Raw is the stock in what I'm about to order but should I look for a Rogue Silver 110/130 to try?

I might wait to do our Titleist fitting in April at the club but they never have any shafts that can keep my spin down like the Tour Green. When I was fitted into the driver he just happened to have it on hand even though it was discoed.

What were answers then are still answers now.  Rogue Silver 110/130 are good alternatives, and you can still find an uncut Tour Green 85TX on eBay for a very reasonable price.  It's a unique profile that can be tricky to find in other shaft manufacturers.

Yeah I’ve looked at those and figured they were still the best option. I missed the 85tx on eBay when I looked so I’ll look again. Appreciate it

If you’re up for some light reading, this thread details the Rogue 130 TX versions pretty well. I had been a fan of the Rogue 125 Silver until it gave way in my driver, and I read every one of those posts before deciding on a Rogue 130 Silver 70TX in the driver. Been testing it this winter and I think I’ve got it pretty optimized. Let me just say I’m hitting some of the best drives of my life with it recently on Trackman in a Ping G410 plus. Tour Green isn’t quite the same shaft, but I think I could jump into it without much fuss at this point.

But if you know and trust Tour Green and can find it online, it will come in at a better price point than the Rogue shafts.  It’s still good enough for John Rahm to trust it. Was in his driver all last year, including when he won the Masters, and if he’s choosing that over a Ventus shaft or anything else, it must be for good reason. It’s not for everyone, but once you fit into this profile, you tend to stay in it and prefer it over others. Although I will say that Ventus TR Black has a similarish EI curve, Aldila has had this shaft profile on lockdown. Been their bread and butter for years.

@Sankacoffee I know it's been a year but I just saw Russ Ryden's review on the stock Tensei 1K Black and he says it matches in his data base with Tour Green. MCA owns Aldila so he's guessing the 1K Black is basically a reissue under a different name. I don't have experience with the Tour Green but do have a 1K Black I've been playing around with and find it to be quite stable with a slight mid/low kick. One of my favorite no-upcharge shafts right now and easy to get cheap on eBay if you're still looking.

If you watch Peter Finch's fitting video at Titleist (skip to 19:25), they said the same thing. He had an old Ping 3 wood with an OG NV 75x in it, and they said the closest mimic they had available is the 1K Black.

The shape of the EI Curve is VERY similar, but I would say it looks like the 1K Black's tip to butt stiffness ratio is significantly higher.

Since the graphs are auto-scaled and don't have actual numbers - the shape of the curve is actually pretty meaningless when comparing shafts.

I understand what you're getting at, but "meaningless" is a bit hyperbolic.

Would I want to fit myself for a shaft to play a death match purely based off the EI graphs? No, of course not.

Can I tell by looking at the curve what profile type it is, what legacy shafts it's likely to be similar to, and whether it's worth a test or not? Absolutely, and that's exactly what Titleist did for Peter Finch in the video above. It's the main reason I ask avid players I'm fitting about shafts they've previously loved...and hated. It doesn't skip the need to narrow down options through actual testing, but it does get us much closer to the best solution without wasted time and reps.

I guess I haven’t been on here in a while so I missed this comment. That’s interesting because I actually got fit into the 1k black for a GT3 in the fall. Maybe it was biased but I actually hit it a lot better than the green, which I also tried in the GT3. Dispersion was way tighter and I felt like I couldn’t miss left. Felt smoother too, but maybe I convinced myself of that. I liked both much more than the Ventus for sure.

The shapes of the two EI curves are very similar, but 1K Black in the 65/75 weights seems to have a higher tip/handle stiffness ratio (softer handle, stiffer tip) which would lower the launch propensity in comparison to Tour Green. The 1K Black 85, on the other other hand, is MUCH stiffer in the the handle than its lighter siblings.

That makes sense. My TSi3 was set to 6.5* with the tour green and I would hit it very high sometimes. The GT3 is also 6.5 and launches slightly lower overall (still high) but sometimes there will just be a low, penetrating flight out of nowhere. That never really happened with the TG.

no question the aldila is softer and easier to load.

Yeah, I agree with the anti left. I guess I can’t compare loading as well because I went from 75 tx in the green to 65 tx in the black and the black feels smoother to me. I also feel the clubface better with the black.

I’d agree with the black is smooth.  Its not rebar and it loads well.

the aldila feels nice and easier to swing, but I could get wild with it cause it had snap/kick to it

Yeah, the funny part to me is when I was fit into the TG I’d never hit a shaft I liked better. That might not actually be saying much when I consider my driver history haha. The black blew it out of the water though for me because I could get wild with the TG. I can also do that with the black but I’ve never felt like it was a shaft feel thing.

I absolutely love the Tour Green.  I have it in a Callaway 3Deep and it's one of my longest serving clubs.  I hit the 1K in the TSR head (perhaps it was stock shaft) and thought "this feels familiar."  I do like a little kick.  The other shaft I have tried which I really liked was the original Project X Smoke shaft.  Not sure if they're similar profiles but it certainly jived with my swing.

I liked the Tour Green but always found the butt of the shaft to be slightly too soft for my liking. I am in a Fujikura Atmos Black 6x in my driver, so tried the 7x in my three wood but as with the Tour Green in the driver felt the butt was abit too soft. I can only assume the increased weight and extra butt trim accounted for this softer feeling over the driver shaft. Might be worth looking at as you can pick them up fairly cheaply these days. I think they are abit more stable than the Tour Green but similar launch/spin and as I say I thought the 7x in my 3 wood had that Tour Green feel.
