Aerotech Steelfiber 110 golf shaft?

I was thinking of a switch to these shafts.  I'm not able to hit balls right now, so I can't test them.  How do they play to flex.  I have always played stiff in steel shaft-Project x 5.5 and 6.0.  Also, Modus 105 x and 120 stiff. Any info on these shafts would be appreciated.  Thanks

How something "plays to flex" is very relative so expect to get different answers.   And also why there is no substitute for actually testing them out yourself.

But based on your history,   relative to PX steel - they play fairly similar.  Relative to those Nippons, they play very stiff.  YMMV.

I've added Wishon Shaft Profile data for the i110, along with DGS and PX 6.0, and the Modus 105 and 120.

I've always felt the i110 is kind of like DG, with a stiffer bottom half of the shaft.  Depending on your swing, you might need to go a bit softer with them than you would for the same flex DG.

The Modus 120 and 105 are quite a bit softer.

On the chance it's helpful....

I'm about 85mph these days.  Not quite so smooth.  I've been a DGS player for a while now, really like the DG shafts, but find DGS is maybe a touch too stiff now.  I can play it, but it's not ideal.  My thinking is that with Steelfibers, either i110 or i95, I would look towards regular, maybe with a hard step, because I play older clubs, including 2 irons.

Another thought could be the Recoil shafts.  Not the Proto version, but the retail versions of the 95 or 110.  I have a 95 Stiff in a long iron, it's working rather well.  I find it gives me a bit higher trajectory, but it's not egregious.

Have 125 Recoil Proto in stiff, they feel a bit stiff for me now.  Again, I can play them, but they're not ideal.

Adding another thought...

I found it useful to build single test clubs with graphites I was interested in.  Recoil, NV105, XCaliber TourX (that was the model name, not the flex), gave them all a bit of a go.  In the last year, I've added the Fuji Pro iron shaft to the test pile.  It also has potential, but is parallel only.  They can be tapered for use in .355 hosels (Fujikura folks suggest this), but I've not taken that plunge just yet.

A lot of good options out there.

If it helps, I went from px 6.5, which I love, to i110cw stiff.  Only reason I left px was a wrist injury from weightlifting .

I just went the opposite direction. I had the 110CW stiff for about 4 years. Very playable but a little loose at times. My fitting put me in PX 6.5 and I picked up 8 yards.

To be honest, I loved the SF110. It (for me) was easy to hit high/low and curve it L/R. I think it’s just a bit about your swing and what fits you. I also tried the 115CW FC S and X and hit it the same as my 110CW stiff. The feel is great though. It’s also great because you can save a bunch of money on 2/3/4 iron shafts and just get a 95CW to match but lighter weight.

if it wasn't for the wrist injury, I would still be in px6.5.

Came from the DG TI X100’s which I loved, but typical elbow and wrist issues drove the switch to graphite. Went with the i110’s in X, but SS1x and love them. They play like steel, but are much easier on the body. Also set them +1/2” and the SW’s came out perfect at D3. Obviously a bit lighter overall, but they feel fantastic.

I have posted extensively on the i110, and they are so so good.  A bit unfairly maligned I think due to the swing-weighting quirks, but once you get them dialed in, terrific shafts.  I have and can technically "play" both the stiff and the regular, but the stiff is very harsh for my mere mortal swing.  So, I use the i110 R straight in, and they are just great.  Good performance, good objective numbers like spin, and for someone that wants to stay in that 110gish range as opposed to sub-100g, a great option.

I do use the i110 S soft-stepped once in my wedges, and those are perfect for that purpose.  Not a ton of full swings, and shorter shafts, so the harshness is a non-factor in my wedges.

YMMV.

I'm in the category of folks who would look at i110 in Regular in irons, and have been thinking of using a double softstepped 110 in wedges.  Haven't taken the plunge yet, but it's a matter of time.  😉

Column labels are missing?

A while back I tried the 8i shaft trick using MMT 125 TX in gap and lob.  Really bendo-flexo, spinny - pulled them.  Side note, swing weight of SM9 52 and 58 with MMT 125-S at 35.75" ea, 52=D7 and 58=E0, each has 4 wraps and 60rd CPPRO standard grips.

The 36/31/26/21/16/11 across the top are the column headers.  It's the number of inches of beam length, when they're checking frequency.  There's an "in" in each column that's cut off by the Excel filter.  If I widen the columns, it looks like this:

image.png.d6852933c0d2cbeb1707a9fae7179019.png

The Steelfibers are very similar to DG, except with a stiffer tip as you get heavier.  I had tried using DGX 7 iron shafts in my wedges when I was using DGS, and rather liked it; it's what has me thinking about the i110 S SSx2 idea.

I've got i125 stiff wedge shafts in a couple gap wedges, I feel like there's a bit of room to go a bit softer.

Reviving an old thread…

NRJyzer, would you be able to add to this table the frequency specs for the PX 5.5, PX 6.5, Steelfiber (.355 taper) CW i110 S and Steelfiber (.355 taper) CW i110 X, Recoil 110 F4 and Recoil 110 F5?

I'm sorry to say I can only share some of the info you've asked.  I've only been saving the profile data that was shared online, I don't possess the actual database.

I don't have data for i110 tapered, nor any of the Recoil data.  The best I can do is show the parallel and tapered i125 stiff, which can maybe allow a bit of extrapolation.  It's not great, but I'm afraid it's all I've got.

Also don't have PX 5.5.  I've added 5.0 as a poor substitute, as well as a few other shafts just because.

Thanks NRJyzr!

Interesting how close SF 110X is to PX 6.0.

I have SF 110 S and they just don’t feel “there” at impact.  My favorite shaft is PX, but wrist and elbows…

I’ve been afraid of SF 110 X based on how they are reviewed as being so stout to flex, but I think I need to try them.
