leekgolf
Hello, I recently learned my putter is not set up well for my putting stroke. According to my teacher its definitely too long. I've never been fit for a putter. In the past, my club pro said take some putters out to the practice green and see what you like. Honestly this was years ago. This makes me wonder what else is wrong in key putter set up. What should I expect in a good putter fitting? What is a fair, note not cheap, price for a good putting fitting? How would you suggest I find a good fitter for this? Should I look for any particular equipment or capabilities? Thanks for any help! jvernon
I don’t have much advice other than I went to club champion and was underwhelmed. We putted a few times to find my stroke then that was it. I’ve seen some pretty extensive putter fittings on Instagram. Hopefully some other have some good info to add
Shushwap
The key is to find the right guy.. I was lucky with my fitting as the guy was great no rush through fitting.. we actually spent 2.5 hours with the fitting and a lesson Same with my last putting coach.. no rush through lesson.. he wasn't staring at the clock.. He didn't even charge me for the second lesson and I had to stop that one after almost 2 hours as I had to go 🙃 Moral of the story..Do a little research before u see someone.. I just got lucky The person makes all the difference
leekgolf
I didn't find any putter fitting information for my area, Central Ohio that gave me confidence in the fitters. With google searches I turned up the big box stores and the chains like Club Champion and True Spec, as well as Golftec. Based on that, I went to my golf club pro and asked about putter fitting. The fitting was based on thing bout 20 different putters of different lengths and styles to a green. Some putters were extreme toe hang -deep arc type, some mild toe hang - light arc and some face balanced-straight back- straight through. He checked my setup with different lengths and suggested a length that he feels is optimal for me. Once that was settled, he had me try the different types to see which style gave me the most consistent starting line. It was mild toe hang. Then he checked what I did to start the stroke. He feels if I forward press I would need a bit more loft, if I don't then a standard 4 degrees would be fine. There was no tech involved, no SAM Puttlab or GC4 or Flightscope. I think for a basic fitting it was fine. Maybe someday I'll find a place that performs an in-depth fitting. I then considered taking my Cameron gamer and having it cut down to the right length. FWIW, I did end up buying. putter based on his recommendations.

larryd3
I had mine at Club Champion and it was a great experience. It was a couple years ago and cost around $100. Definitely worth it for me.
