Contrived/Manipulated Fittings?

Yesterday I attended a demo/fitting at my local course using Trackman.  It was put on by a single clubmaker/OEM.  I hit various drivers vs. my current gamer.  At the end I tried a few 7 irons vs. my current 7 iron.

 

Here's the deal.  Both in person and in the data that was later emailed to me it was stated that the new drivers were 40 yards longer than my gamer.  And that the new 7 iron was 8 yards longer, same lofts.

 

PROBLEM:  I have eyes.  They see pretty well.  I could see where my drives were rolling out to.  My gamer was consistently longer than the new drivers... at worst, the same yardage.

 

Is this a Trackman issue?  Or is it a salesman/operator/upsell/honesty issue?

Something I failed to mention:  The rep was watching me hit and tossing in comments... "Nice baby draw", "You caught that one", "Good swing".  But I don't think he watched any balls all the way to their final destination.  Again, my gamer was going further than his drivers.

 

Bottom line:  I'm not a sucker for an easy sale.  I want accurate data... not BS.  I understand wanting to sell some clubs, but don't do it through deceit.  Let the clubs speak for themselves.  If my old driver outdrives all his new clubs he should just man up and say, "Kudos to your old driver... what make is that?"

Do you have that data to share? 40y can't come out of nowhere so there would need to be other numbers to support that, either as inefficiencies with your gamer causing it to be shorter or upticks on the new driver for it to be longer. If the data is being manipulated then it'll be easy to spot in the numbers.

The data showed less ball speed, more spin, shorter carry, shorter total distance on my gamer.  But in reality it was going farther in the baseline shots than the shots that followed with the new (and improved) drivers. This was outdoors... you could see the actual result.

 

That is why I am perplexed.

In this case, he ran. He's a rep/fitter for a large OEM traveling from golf course to golf course around the West.  Essentially he's a salesman, quite likely working on a commission.

Note that while the Performance Ball (V1) model is very accurate, your range balls won’t necessarily align well with the availability other model solutions.
