P770 7i Head came off during warmup.

Like title said, purchased new last June. A few questions;

 

1. Should I bother with returning to TM for a reglue?

     I'd rather not wait the 1-2weeks if possible.

2. Should I pull and reglue all the heads?

     Having an iron fail like this was a little shocking tbh. It looked like the shaft hadn't been prepped at all still real shiny no signs of being abraded but I'm new to pulling iron heads so unsure if this is normal. Only a little epoxy on the shaft near the hosel as well as some rust?! in that same area. 

      I do have shaft epoxy(Brampton 24hr not Gorilla Glue) and though I have never built up any irons I feel like I can muddle through prepping and glueing an iron head. Limited experience with pulling and gluing drivers/fairways/hybrids. So mainly dealing with graphite and adapter tips. 

 

3. Also when dry fitting the head back on the shaft and pulling it back off, the cap of the the blue plastic (shaft plug?) broke and stayed in the club head. Just pull it out during prep correct? I figured it was to prevent epoxy from going into the shaft and it wasn't important.

 

p.s. Gorilla Glue comment was a joke I don't want the gorilla glue epoxy mafia after me.

You could do it yourself, tutorials on here (I did one), or on youtube. 
 

You could try taking it to a Taylormade retailer who does club work and see what they say.  Maybe they are authorized to do the repair under warranty.  Might be easier if they have the right ferrule, etc to do the work with fresh parts.

The main problem with TM clubs coming unglued is that the shaft tips are bent and need replaced.  If the tip is straight then proceed with re-epoxy. if bent then send back to TM for warranty repair.

You could cut the ferrule off and roll it on the ground. Or just try rolling it while looking at the tip. If it’s bent to any significance, you should be able to visually see it.

Clean the shaft up, hot water dip and some light tapping and you may be able to get the ferrule off cleanly to re-use. You then can do a good inspection of the tip. For years TM used a single silver ring 7/8" ferrule on the P series but seem to have gone to a solid black one now.

I wouldn’t bother sending it back. Gluing a head back on is an easy process. And if you get the equipment to do this one you will have all the stuff to do it should another head fall off. A pack of ferrules on Amazon is cheap and so is the epoxy. I’ve used Brampton’s quick cure on irons and drivers and it’s worked great. I don’t love the long cure stuff
