Longest irons you’ve seen?

So I’m playing with my 6’10” dad this week… I borrowed a wedge from him, and it felt a little long…

 

I think it’s 3 inches over length… this is it next to my srixon 5 iron that plays 3/4 long.

I have a 6'6" brother who -plays 1" long, his kids, 6'7" & 6'8" play 1.25" & 1.5" long respectively. All buff and strong like Bull, they all use phone poles for shafts. Crazy clubhead speed.

I'm 6'6" and play irons 1" over. I played with a friend that's 6'5", and he tired my clubs once, and he was bent over really far. I measured his wrist to floor after the round, and he had arms like a T Rex. I built a set for him that was 3" longer, and they were perfect.

I bought a used set of AP2's a while back that were +1.5" with midsize grips and a SIGNIFICANT amount of build up tape. I really wanted to meet the guy that had them built because I felt like a little kid holding them (I'm pretty short at 5'8" so it doesn't take much.) +3" is just insane, lol.

A friend is 6'6" or so and plays his at 2" over stock. A 40" 5-iron. Everything's backweighted and/or ground half to death.

I’m only 6 foot and I have been playing irons an inch over standard for a long time. My 7 iron is 38”. But I also play light weight graphite and like a heavier swing weight. I probably couldn’t pick up a 40” 5 iron with a Dynamic Gold shaft. 😁

I'm just under 6'6" and have settled on +1/2" but every time I see something like this it gets me thinking. My short irons definitely feel short at times, even after moving to nearly single length wedges with everything 1/4" shorter than my PW. I've been curious to try 3/8" length gapping off my current 6 iron to keep the lengths manageable through the bag, but I don't have a builder I really trust to mess with that. 

 

James Hart du Preez, a pro that's 6'9" plays 2" over, 3" is nuts.
