Has anyone here tested out the Modus 120 vs the Modus 115? If so, which did you prefer and what differences would you say you noticed between them?

I wanted too but after reading a bit.. i didnt move forward..  I use the 120 stiff and like a lot... have the 105 stiff in another set and love the mid to long iron flight.. short irons seem to balloon

Do you say that because I'm coming from the c-taper lite or just in general that SS the modus 115 would be too soft?

Neither.  Going from experience and other comments.  The 115s are flighted, and the longer irons are a touch softer.  It is easier to start straight-in, then soft-step if needed.

I don't think the 115s will be too soft.  More of a starting point, and it can be hard to start with the soft-step then always "wondering" about them straight-in.  Maybe build the PW and 5 iron straight-in first, and go from there?  I soft-stepped a 5-iron, and did not like it more than straight-in.  YMMV.

The 115s are a touch firmer in the middle than 105s.  115x "tiger-stepped" in a gap wedge is tighter than 115s.

I'm using modus 120X tiger stepped in my three wedges and love it.

Had a range session today with the newly installed modus 115 (vs my old C-taper lite 110) and I enjoyed them. They do to me still feel a little more linear probably due to the weight vs the modus 105 but IMO very similar to the C-taper lite 110 but with a bit stiffer handle.

Assume you are comparing 115 Stiff to the 110 Stiff CTL?  I also found them quite similar.

CTL is smoother than what I recall during my testing, though. I just went through a lie check (Howard method) (hope X Golf don't mind the dry erase lines, lol), and my irons all need to be .5 flatter, possibly some 1* flatter once my swing gets better honed. I apparently was swinging out to in and quite steep during my fitting. Old habits die hard. Back taking lessons again, though. My fitter suggested 2 up based upon my then swing, and I am at least glad that I plead with him to order only 1 up.  Hindsight, I shoulda gone stock lie and then tweaked from there. The Cobra clubs are .25" shorter than what I previously played, so that would equate with a .5* flatter lie right off the bat, even if both clubs were stated same lie, which they aren't.  I could probably play these new irons 1 degree strong too, as going stock loft which is 2 weak of prior clubs, has left a little larger gap at the top of my bag than I would like. Now to decide if I should bend loft and lie at the same time, or get the lie right first, then do loft.   I am getting there . . .

I wish you had gotten an answer for this from @markheardjr or anyone because I am in the exact same boat 😂

Man I haven't hit CTL is years. I tried to go lighter back in maybe 2016ish? I tried CTL and PXi and hated them both. Also tried Modus Tour105 and loved the feel but launched them way high. I got to hit a very early proto set of LSLs, which essentially became the 115 in Sept 2018 ish. The proto set had just a touch better feel, half a step closer to Tour125 than the 115 retail. Or at least that is what I felt and saw on the handful of shots I hit that day. I have owned a set of LSLs and LSL2s and both of them felt stiffer in the mid-section than I remembered and I just didn't get the load/unload feeling I wanted. As a result, I have not sourced a set of 115s since they have been publicly available. I understand their logic to fit a shaft in-between 105 and 125 for weight purposes but then also not increase launch & spin coming from a heavier shaft...but IMO the stiffer mid-section takes away what I like most about the 125 loading feel.

That said, I am not a fan of light and stout. These shafts absorb no vibration and hurt my joints badly. I understand why you want CTL performance with Nippon smoothness if I could get a 115g shaft that has load feel and still launches low with no spin without shaking my joints loose, I'd be all over it.

I think $-Taper Lite would be a little closer to the feel of Nippon but you're going to add a touch higher launch/spin over CTL. I'd also be looking into DG 120 or DG Mid 115 as alternatives for decent feel in that weight class. DG 120 is intriguing to me. Need to find one to try.

I actually think these CTL feel pretty good.  Once I get my lies dialed in, I will eventually regrip and add some Pro Soft inserts just for good measure. Very inexpensive addition, even if they make only the smallest of improvement. Never used them before, though.  $-taper lite are definitely into the category of too lightweight for me. I went through that issue with Recoil 95, which, for my swing, was too light, too low of spin, and launched too low.  Still, my favs are Dynalite Gold XP S300 (in my 800 Pro irons), CTL Stiff (in my King Tours), and Modus 115 Stiff.

I can't quite figure out the Modus line. 120/130 seems different than 105/115/125 certainly.

But, I've always felt the 105/115/125 played stiffer than listed flex.

As such, went with 105Rs in my i210s. Previously, DG X100's have always been my favorites.

I don't regret the decision at all. Tight, flat, controllable trajectories all day long - and so freakin' easy to swing!

I offloaded my King Tour with CTL Stiff, and went to the Mizuno Pro 223 with Modus 115 Stiff. Just took the plastics off and did one session and one round, but so far I am liking these shafts better. I can feel where the shaft is at all times, whereas with the CTL the shaft felt a bit floaty if my tempo was quicker. I can be more aggressive with my swing with the Modus 115, which I like. Spin numbers look better (higher)r with this set too, but it could also be the heads, although the lofts are the same.

The 120/130 are a complete different profile to the 105/115/125 so you are spot on.

I agree I think the 5's play stiffer. I play a 105S shaft and swing my 7 iron around 90-92 and have no problem with stability and dispersion! Great shafts

Are your 105x straight in or soft-stepped?  What lead you to those over the 115s?

I played 105X straight in.  Just switched to PX LS 6.5 and windows are much better.

How have your windows shifted? Whats your SS etc? I looked at the LS but opted for the Modus in the end. How does the weight differ etc?

Descent angle was a big one for me and numbers were better with the LS.  The Modus was mid to high 50s and LS was mid 40s.  The weight is no issue and I actually feel that the LS feels a bit more active than the 105X.  I believe the swing speed was low 90s that day with a 7 iron.

Very interesting... I was really inbetween both of these. I thought the LS might be good but got scared off by the weight... may have to revisit
