Cobra King Tec Hybrid Users - aftermarket weights ?

Not sure how widely used this club is but just wondering if anyone has has had any luck with aftermarket weight for this head?

 

looking at cobra f7 or ping g30 heads as they seem to be around the same size circular weights, but without having either in hand it’s hard to tell if it is an exact fit

 

if I can avoid paying $30 plus shipping for an oem Cobra head that would be great! My backup plan is to add yarn or try find hotmelt to get a few extra grams

The only weights I’ve seen for this is through Cobra. Hot melt could be an option? I’d like to try the King Tec hybrid and see it can replace the G425?

That is a good deal. The problem is that I don’t know which ones to get. The club feels a little light to me so I want to replace the 2 g weight with something heavier. I suppose I should just get the 10 g weight and not the 12 g weight? That should add a few swing weight points to the head.

Maybe an odd question but have you tried moving around the existing weights? While the actual swing weight may not change, it will likely feel different to you weight wise.

 

Also keep in mind that adding weight to the rear is more than likely going to increase launch and spin, so that might not be the best option.

 

How is your flight biased right now with it? Straight, tend to fade, tend to hook?

Great questions.  To be honest, the flight seems a little low (and I have the hosel adjusted to +1.0).  I can’t figure out whether I like the more upright draw settings.  I am 5’6” with longish arms so upright and me usually don’t get along.  But there’s something about the upright/draw settings that seem to improve quality of strike.  

 

And I have tried moving the weights around and while it does slightly affect the flight it really doesn’t seem to affect the feel.  Before buying the weights (which imo are really expensive for what they are), I think I might take a 12g weight out of my King Tec 5 hybrid and pop it in the back center position in place of the 2g weight of the 4 hybrid.  So I will have 3 12g weights in it.  Seems like a lot but I’ll see how it feels.  The other option would be to add some lead tape but I would rather not put it on the sole so maybe there’s a way that I can cut circular pieces and put them under the existing weights.  Not sure that would add very much weight though.

I like your thinking in trying the 12g from your other hybrid in the back...it should tell you a lot.

Just as an additional thought, if you only want to add a small amount of weight, another option would be to buy 2 - 14g weights and swap out the 12g's.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing.  But that would only be an additional 4 g which is likely only an additional 1.5 SW points. 
 

And even with the discount, it’s still around $50 with shipping which seems steep to add 4g of weight.

Yep.. I hear ya. You'd have to be pretty sure it's what you really want no matter what option you go with.

Maybe play around with some lead tape? It can be surprising how just changing a club by 1-2 swing weights makes more difference than you might think.

I feel  moving 12g weight to rear added about the same as +1deg.

Make sure you still hit down on it vs sweep for added height.

Just got back from the sim.  I tested the 4 hybrid with three 12g weights.  It felt great, definitely on the heavier side, but I could feel the head.   I wish they made an 8g weight in addition to 10, 12 and 14.  That would be perfect.  I’m on the fence whether I should buy a 10g.  Still might be too heavy.
