I did pickup a Tensei 1K Red and that lasted only 2 days last week. The UB went back in the bag.

I also have a Ventus Black 7 and 7W build coming from that AI Smoke deal TGW had to make a 'Nelly Korda' 7 wood setup to see how I like it against my current trusty Mavrik 5 wood with UB 8. Two vastly different shafts (like the 1K Red was) but we'll see.

Was wondering when the Ventus mafia would drag you in 😛

New fear unlocked😂

This is what worries me. If the head did come to spec and the shaft length/weight is within TM’s spec for the M3, the club shouldn’t play 4 swing points lighter. In fact with your length and total weight of the shaft with grip should play 1/2-1 swingweight points higher.

That is unless your head weight was lighter than ~217 grams (around 209 grams) which would mean the original 29 gram sliding weight was replaced for a lighter ~17-21 gram weight. (I won’t have this problem though as all my head weights are stock.)

Anyway looks like I’ll have to account for roughly 1-2 grams of weight, which is pretty negligible as far as swing weight is concerned.

IMG_1848.jpeg

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned I got this M3 off eBay as a tour issue head, not retail. I looked at my old notes and it weighed in at 209 grams before I added the lead tape.

I started out with my Fuji shaft and once I cut it down, I realized how light this head was. The HD wasn’t too much different, but it is lighter for sure.

No worries.😂

But you can see the math I typically do when it comes to swing weight which is crazy.

No but I've reached the end of the T AD tunnel and the VF is the only shaft I havent hit so of course I have two in my watch list on ebay.

Side note on the AD VF, looks like Amy Yang just put it in the bag over her AD UB that she's had for over a year or so. Same Paradym TD head.

Compare it with DI, IZ, TP, HD. Whichever ones you had experience with?

Mainly interested in firmness and flight and if they are noticeable.

Thanks!

I've had experience with all the shafts you've listed, lol.  Had the HD for a minute and DI for many years.  Extensive testing with the other two.  VF launches the lowest outta all of them.  It's also the most linear and firm, IMO.  DI and IZ both launch the highest.  TP and HD are more mid launch.  DI, HD and TP all have that kick in the mid although HD is the most subtle.  IZ doesn't kick much like the VF.

I like the TP in fairways metals.  It has a bit of kick to it in the mid.  Not as much as the DI though.  Easy to turnover.  Best way to describe it would be something in between UB and DI in terms of feel/kick and launch/spin.

Alright need a recommendation here....Currently gaming the VR 6S and loving everything about it except there are times it goes a little too left for me...Thinking of possibly going to an HD? Love to see a left to right ball flight when I'm swinging well..any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

HD or IZ would be great options in that similar profile. I have all three for my Ping driver, and use the VR primarily as it helps me turn the ball over a bit more than the others. If I wanted to encourage a fade, I would throw the IZ or HD in.

I would stay in VF and either tip an S, go heavier or up a flex.

HD/IZ are good and while easy to turnover, I found them a bit more stable than the VR.  They are both linear as well and have less kick than the VR as well.

If you guys had to choose one shaft for Driver out of: Ventus Blue 2024, AD UB and AD XC what would it be? Also, my miss is a slice...

Theyre all very similar and it would depend on what kind of feel you want. A slightly softer handle but not soft as a 'white' profile would be the XC. Still smooth and not too low launch. The UB would have the most mid-kick feel I would say but still with the reinforced stiff tip feel and slightly stiffer butt section. The Ventus just like the UB but with probably an even stiffer handle than the UB.

Launch and spin will probably be within 1* and 400RPM with any of the above.

That's a tough one.  The most stable one for me is the XC outta the bunch.  It's just that the handle is a bit softer than I'd like.  I love the way the UB feels however, I can't square that damn thing to save my life.  2024 Velocore Blue feels a lot smoother than the OG but it's prone to the lefts for me.

I dont know what I've changed but the UB just kind of clicked one day and now it's my favorite shaft. I had the same issue at first.

Another note. I tried out a Ventus Black 7 in my 7 wood build aka the 'Nelly Korda'. I dont know how she likes that shaft 🤮 I'd bet the numbers and performance are great but if there was an opportunity to move to something like the VF with the same numbers she'd do it. The butt section is just so stiff.

I swapped the VB 7 for the UB 8 last night so we'll see if flight and spin stay relatively similar.

How long have you had the UB?  How long did it take for you to get adjusted to it?  I had mine for a good 2 months until I said to myself that it's time to move on.  I'm loving my VF though.  Hell, it's been in the bag for a long time now.  I think the community knows that I change my driver shafts like I do my underwear.  VF is special.

She does have the GT (came from IZ, iirc). I'm talking about her 7w. I believe she goes GT > VR > VB > VB(hyb) in her woods currently.

All of the VFs that have been popping up are 6-weights because everyone is trying them in driver. As soon as some 7 or 8-weights start selling for under $200 or so I'll pick one up for 5w/7w experiments.

VF has been going down in price.  There's a seller in Japan selling them for around 225 on the bay.

The DI just works so well for me in my fairways but not in the driver. Fitter doesn't know why. Been struggling with a mini driver until I dropped the DI 7S tipped an inch into it just like my 3 wood and its automatic. Have the DI in my Apex UW as well. Tried it in multiple drivers and tipped/untipped and just doesn't work. Something with my timing. Have a VF I love in my TSR3. Just the same: automatic. Tried it in a Ping 10K. Got the swingweight right and its OK but nothing to write home about. Now I am searching for the right shaft for my Callaway Smoke Max. I like the head a lot because I can work both ways. Currently have an IZ in it tipped 1/2". Its just a little loose. Thinking of trying the UB or the XC. Ive been fit into an XC before and even though its not real popular, it did work for me. Its more like a Diamana white profile fell for me. If anyone has a 6S they want to part with let me know. Bonus if it has a Callaway adapter.
