Low scoring but is this course really worthy of holding a major? Obviously Evian and Amundi call the shots but it does nothing for me.

can any eagle-eyed observers identify Nasa Hataoka's driver from this photo?

 

To my eyes, it doesn't look like a Srixon ... more like XXIO? (with a Red Ventus velocore) ... albeit i guess they are part of the same group of Srixon/Dunlop companies?

 

This WITB Link (24 April 2022) mentions Nasa Hataoka's driver = "Srixon Z 785 (9.5°, Miyazaki Kaula Kiri 6S shaft)":

Hatoaka had a Ventus Red stiff 50g at 45" at the JTBC.

What do you get for winning the LET order of merit or whatever it is called, Linn Grant looks good next to everybody she's just gotta play regularly to get into the mix.

 

Or is the fact she hasn't played an LPGA event this  season give her terrible status and she couldn't get in most events anyways?

She's exempted into 2022 LPGA Q-Series.

She hasn't played a single LPGA tournament this season; she's priority #178.  She'd lose her LPGA status after this season.

It looks like a player winning the LET Order of Merit will qualify for Chevron, Evian and Women's Open in term of majors.

Just saw her listed on 1st page of leaderboard with American Flag next to her name and wondered who the heck this is.  Not much in her bio except for her U.S. Am win over Albane.  Is this a fluke or has she been ready to break out at some point?

Look at the back end of the draw, sure if you're playing good you can go low but if you're hitting it out of position the course will eat you up. 

 

I think like many course's that host Majors, I think it would play better with a stiff breeze but we can't control the weather yet

The leaderboard reminds me of 2020 Chevron when Brooke and Nelly went into the playoff but lost to a red hot Mirim Lee.

 

Who'll be "Mirim Lee" come Sunday?

\DO NOT SAY THAT! 🤣   I was thinking the same thing looking at the leaderboard and that if Brooke and Nelly had not been so focused on each other that Sunday, then one of them would have had a second major going into the weekend here!

She is a good ball striker as evident by birdies on all par 5s today. Did well on Epson Tour last yeae+ Q school, kind of a "late bloomer" but the whole COVID fiasco delayed her ascension to the big tour.  Hovering around the top 100 this year but a nice finish should propel her to safety. And she is cute too! 

 

Her, Corpuz, Gina Kim and Amanda Doherty should stick around amongst the American rookie class. Katlyn Papp hasn't done much in her limited starts, she will likely be back to the Epson Tour, fellow Longhorn alum like Sophia.
