MP 223 Yes! - MP 225 no :(

I received my MP 223 / 225 combo set yesterday.  The set up is 223 6-pw and 225 4-5.

Loved the sound and look of the 223.  Also have the classic Mizuno feel.

Unfortunately, the 225 looked good, but the feel and sound was loud, off key, and clicky.  It reminded me of the Ping i510 that my buddy plays.  He is hearing impaired and wears a hearing aid, so it doesn't bother him.  It could be the hollow body that is throwing me off, but it was not pleasant feeling.

I may just keep my 585 4 and 5 iron in the bag as there isn't any difference in distance, although the 585s fly a little higher and feel much better.

Only one day on the range and nine holes.  Will update if anything changes this weekend.

I went from a full set of the 225, which I honestly really liked, to a set of 223, keeping the 225 in the 5 iron slot.  I would agree the sound and feel of the 223 are a marked difference over the 225, but I honestly am not bothered by the 225.  Maybe it's because I know it's giving me the extra help I need in my long irons.  If the club is more forgiving, I can be too I guess!

I have the 225s (coming from Mizuno MP-20 blades) and I am struggling a bit with them. I really miss the forged feel of the blade, and these feel a little clunky in terms of turf interaction. Thinking about a switch, honestly. The 225s are powerful (almost too powerful) and forgiving, but just not satisfying.

sold my 585 and went to 225/223 combo.   Very similar experience, really like the 223 but the 225 weren't for me.   Too little spin and didn't like the feel.   For what I sold the 585 for, I should have kept and split with 223.  Found 5-7 of Mizuno 920 from Japan to fill the current gap and taking them to shop tomorrow to reshaft.   Wasn't able to find out too much info but wasn't willing to wait 2 more months.....

I’ve got almost 20 rounds on my 223’s and I feel like the honeymoon stage never ended. Might be my favorite irons of all time.

I’m currently playing the 225’s and they have changed my GIRs drastically.  Iron play has become a strength of my game, primarily having missed GIRs short a higher percentage of the time.  Now I’m on the green putting.  However, I’m currently demoing the 223’s after hitting a friends a few times during my rounds.  Slightly softer feel and higher trajectory have been an attractive consideration, but for me, they are shorter than the 225’s in the longer irons where I need the help and consistency.  No need to split set them because 8 down are basically the same IMO.  You can’t go wrong with either set if properly fit.

A super-blended set has occurred to me ... 221 (PW, 9i) / 223 (8i, 7i) 225 (6i, 5i) FliHi (4i).

I actually just pulled the trigger on T100 (PW GW) and T100s (5i-9i). I'm a bit of a Titleist fan boy and like the compact shape, turf interaction and functionality, even though I'll be giving up some forgiveness and a little power. It's a compromise for me between the MP-20 blades that I had been playing (loved 'em but too spinny) and the 225s I replaced them with.

If I had not bought T100, I would have gone Mizuno 223 or Srixon ZX7.

I’ve had both and really liked both.  While the 223’s feel/sound a little better, imho it’s only a little better.  For a hollow bodied iron I think the feel is really good.

Distance control is a little better with the 223’s but the 225’s are longer and a more forgiving. I’m currently in the 225’s and am happy.  Truthfully I don’t know which set I prefer.  They both are that good.  I tend to spin the ball a bit too much so the 225’s are what I’m sticking with but I could very happily play either set.

Anyone playing 223s but rocking a 225 2-iron?

I love my 4-PW 223s w/X7s but it would be really nice to add something in the 2-i slot. No 223 in that loft though.

I also play the 223 4-PW & have the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi 2 iron, it's a great club & very forgiving for a 2 iron. I swapped out my P790UDI for it & I found it more versatile than the Taylormade which was mainly used as a fairway finder from the tee. The Fli-Hi is much easier to hit off the deck & the miss hits are less penalising.

I had 2 sets of 225's and a set of 223's.  Got rid of all 3.  The turf interaction was terrible for me with the 225s.  I thought it was the shafts, ordered another set with different shafts, same thing.  223s were better but not that Mizuno feel I was used to.  Picked up a used set of MP 20 MB today.. can't wait.

The thing is I don’t really need any help elevating. If they had a 223 2-iron I’d play it. Just haven’t seen any reference to anyone playing the 225.

Have a full set of 225s and honestly couldn't be happier. I don't seem to understand the turf interaction complaint? Never experienced club sticking as it goes through the turf. I am coming from a combo set of Srixon ZX5 and 7s which I still have and think are great clubs.

225s are very forgiving, spin nicely for a strong lofted club, have great distance and feel. I could see eventually wanting the 223s in the shorter irons, but only thing holding me back is I don't love the looks. Plus with the short 225 irons having a different construction (not hollow) distance control is pretty consistent!

Still loving my 223 and ended up replacing the 225 (5-7 iron) with Mizuno 920 heads from Japan.  Took a bite of a flier on them since there wasn't much information available but so far so good.  Bit of a hollow cavity back but great feel that match up well with 223

Passive brag, shot career low round (74) yesterday (damn Exceptional Score Reduction adjusted last 20 scores -1) including only 11 putts on the back 9 partially because of 2 kick in birdies and keeping the ball in play all day

I felt the same about the latest iteration of their Fli-Hi.
