Reading today, Dustin Johnson has made about 300M since going to LIV.  I don't know if he was ever going to be considered one of the all time greats, but that's generational money for a side gig.  Can't blame him.

Ya I put it on and get hit by loud music and it’s even louder since FS1 channel seems to jack up the sound volume somehow,

Where it gets interesting is the middle group of players, in terms of earning.  Guys who were journeymen, maybe had 1 win on tour, who have made $25m$30m in a few years on LIV.  A bulk of those guys didn't get signing bonuses, they were mostly last minutes ads to the field when they struggled to get more players signed after the fallout from Phil's comments.  People forget that Taylor Gooch had no sign on bonus, he was a field filler for the first LIV event in London.  I think he has made $60m just from prize money and being a year-end champion.  

 

For some reason I was looking at Caleb Surrat, who was added last year as part of Jon Rahm's team.  Rookie fresh out of the college locker room, he has made about $9.8m in 23 events.  Or $426k per event. He could add a good chunk to that total today, as he is currently tied for 2nd.  If he retains that position and Legion 13 holds onto the team win, he's going to add another ~$1.8m.

You haven’t heard from DJ complaining about OWGR points or not getting on the Ryder Cup team. He knew LIV was about money and money only. He’s honest.

Brooks is still in his prime. He just doesn’t care right now because he’s probably leaving. DJ never cared on LIV. Kim probably cares, but just can’t do it anymore.

Golf is a saturated market pga tour, dp tour, champions tour, lpga tour, college golf, amateur golf. Liv is spending billions with no chance of ever making a profit. You can argue that the champions tour is more deserving of ranking points than liv

Contractually obligated to act happy. A few weeks ago, he did say his top-10 streak was not really that special because the league is watered down with small fields.

DJ had "generational money" before he went to LIV!  So tired of that lame excuse.  it's as nauseating as Sprewell saying "gotta feed the family!"

The team winnings go back to the team to pay for expenses. Remember, they are run like individual businesses, so they have to pay for marketing, staff, etc. They don't just spread the team winnings to the players.

Going to South Africa and having the city/region/country pay LIV instead of a sponsor because of the revenue that LIV brings these areas is a pretty good business model actually. I guess LIV isn’t finding any sponsors to pony up or they don’t want the backlash that comes with being a LIV tournament sponsor.
