Wish I had tried Srixon

Well I settled on a Ball as I was trying to find the one Right ball. I settled on the Maxfli Tour. I wish I had tried the Srixon Z star (2 for 65). The thing is now I'm so loaded up on balls I don't need to buy anymore until I use these up. Any comparison on how close the Z Star is to the Maxfli Tour?

Maxfli is very close if not better to be honest. Launches a bit higher for me but that's different for everyone.

Well that makes me feel a little better then that I settle on the Maxfli Tour. I'm pretty confident that my Ball search is now over after playing several brands over last couple years. I've had 2 foot surgeries in last 8 months, and I cannot wait to get back out on the course!

About as close to identical as you’ll find. The advantage here is that you you buy whichever one is on the biggest discount when you looking to buy, and play them interchangeably with virtually no adaptation curve.

And at that price, remember based on threads here, Srixon hasn't totally fixed their seam cracking issue. Their quality is kind of a crap shoot at the moment so you get what you pay for with them.

I do this, except with the Q Star Tour.  I've found no difference on the course with the Maxfli Tour and QST and just buy which ever is on sale at the moment.  Other than the slightly different shade of yellow, I can't tell the difference in feel, spin, or accuracy.  I'd say distance, but as short as I'm hitting it lately, that wouldn't be saying much.  😄

The only advantage I have with the QST is I can buy them at Academy which is 25min away from me. Dicks is 45min away from me so Maxfli Tours I pretty much order. Other than that I probably wouldn't see a difference in the two balls either.

I just wish Srixon's logo wasn't so dang HUGE! Love their golf balls, but it's a massive logo to me.

I've always loved the Z Star, but it always lacked in distance off the tee. The Maxfli Tour makes up for that. 

 

I'll still always try a new Z-Star, but playing the Maxfli Tour right now.

QST feels like a marshmallow compared to a Maxfli Tour. Not in a bad way, but it's much softer.

I didn't find the same, but feel is specific player to player.  Also, with my old man swing speed I don't compress the ball like I used to.

The Z-Star was short distance wise for me with all clubs.  I play the XV right now and it's legit.  Just as long as the left dash, CSX LS and MTB-X but on the lower spin side.

The seam stuff is weird. I have a whole shag bag of Z-Stars with scuffs and stuff where I retire them when they get played with too long. No seam showing at all. Only got about 3 sleeves left though and will move to ProV1 after since I won several dozen in a tournament.

dont use a ball just because you are stocked up on them, us the ball you like, sell the ones you dont want

Well I mainly just have Snell black and Maxfli Tour. My understanding is those 2 are very close. I do have 1 1/2dz Maxfli Tour X that I may not ever use.

I think they’re close but not as close as the regular models of each are. IMO of course, and YMMV

 

normally I prefer firmer compression balls, but I did not like the tour X, or the Z star XV. Unsure why. For my money, the move is the Z Star diamond when they run the deal, I get the most consistency from that even if I lose a bit of distance vs the XV

I've used Srixon Z-Stars almost exclusively for at least 5 years. Great quality ball that you can get for a great price each Spring.  Contrary to the "conventional wisdom" about playing softer balls as you age and your swing speed drops (I just turned 70), I recently have been playing Z-Star XVs.  For me, I like the higher ball flight, believe that I'm getting a noticeable distance boost and am not losing any short game spin.  When buying Srixon balls I also look for the boxes that were made in Japan.  A few years ago a ball test site found significant quality difference between Srixon balls made in Indonesia and those made in Japan.  I'm not sure that the difference still exists but it's easy to go through the boxes on the shelves and select the ones made in Japan.

The Z Star Divide and XV Divides are made in Japan. The regular (non divide) Z Star line is now made in Indonesia. At least looking at the boxes at Golftown. 

 

Once current ball stock is depleted I'm thinking of picking up some Z Star divides.

What are the differences in those Limited edition z stars that's 24 balls for 64 bucks? I wonder how long those will be available

Same balls.  The packaging of 24 balls in one box is the only thing that makes it a "Limited Edition".   They've been available of and on over the last few months.
