Golf Galaxy Trackman...

So I stopped off at Golf Galaxy on the way home from running some errands. I've been trying to demo the Stealth Irons for quite some time. The irons are awesome, but the rep/fitter's info that he gave me about my swing has thrown me for a loop.

 

I demo'd a 7 iron, stiff kbs max 85 (3 degrees upright...it was all they had for lefties) and was consistently carrying it around 160. He told me my swing speed was 68 mph... and I should try regular shafts. I have never really tracked my swing speed in the past. I've been playing most my adult life and am a 18 hcp. For reference my driver goes about carries about 240.

 

Are those numbers even possible or is their trackman busted? According to charts online I am swinging my irons in the amateur women swing speed range.

Sounds more like an 86 MPH swing speed than 68 MPH. I don't think it's possible to carry a ball 160 yards with a 68 MPH swing speed.

68 mph is ……… not correct for carrying a 7 iron 160 yards. Did you see this number or did he say 68 and mean 98? (Even that seems low tbh)  Or did you not hear him correctly? I’m not sure you could swing 68mph if you tried.

He said 68. He was really old though.

 

Also, not entirely sure if it was a trackman but it looked pretty old and decrepit, it took a few times to sync up to balls.

 

What i'm hearing is get a 2nd opinion.

No way. I tested the Stealth irons on a Trackman at an 85 mph swing speed and was hitting 160-165 carry consistently. Lofts are jacked up but shouldn’t gain you more than 10 yards IMO

Was it the unit that sits next to you while you hit? Or was there a desk with a computer behind you? They used to have GC2 (that sit next to the ball) and have computers along the wall of the bay. Recently they have upgraded to Trackman (which are part of the desk behind you as you hit). GC2 usually don't even track club speed and are factored based on an assumed smash factor and the ball speed.
