At the end of this video, I think they have these wedges raw and badge-less. Might grab em if they release raw.

Good to know they exist in raw, now have to figure out how to get some.

Great catch, quite a few tooling or stripping marks on those heads. Wonder if it’s an adaptation of retail.

I have had my SM8s for two seasons and I usually buy new wedges every 2 years.  Have played Cleveland, Ping, Mizuno and Titleist over the last 10 years.  The Mizuno T7s were my least favorite of the group but these look awesome and I love the toe side help.  Not losing 5-10 yards on a toe strike would be nice.  I don't love the look "in the bag" however the look at address is awesome like a players wedge.  Thinking maybe a 58-12 and a 54-10. These are meant to flow with JPX irons and I play JPX 921 forged so these may be going into the bag!

Yes, the in the bag look is the big let down here, a nicer way to get the weighting out to the toe would be much preferred, a nice small tungsten insert by the look kept traditional. In fitting I got night and day results from my t100 50 and the sm9 50, on full swings front to back dispersion. I’d pay any amount for a t100 type designed 56 and 60, why the rest of the manufacturers are slow to get there I’ll never understand.

100%.  I always get the set gap wedge in a set.  The 921 forged gap looks just like the PW and is much more forgiving than a specialty wedge.  These S23s make a ton of sense for me considering I play JPX irons and my miss is more toe side.

Anyone know if S23 would ever come with a "full face" model?

When do these actually hit retail? I've got a fitting Friday. These, Glide4 and zip6 on my list. Vokeys are "tried and true" but honestly, other manfs are making changes with tech that really interest me, along w these.

I was told by Manhattan Golf that they launched on Friday and I should get mine in 2 weeks.  I ordered a 923 Flihi hybrid recently and received it in just under 2 weeks.

They also didn’t really any mention that these are for only high handicaps. Basically targeting anyone from scratch to mid to high teens, similar to Ping Glides.

Only issue and or moreso a question is why did Mizuno skip and not offer the 48 degree? JPX Forged PW at 44, HM/HMP at 42.5, and HM HL at 45. Think this may cause of a bit of a gapping and/or bag set up issue for those that opt out of the set GW. Kinda of a bummer.

Just wanted to bring this up again and question for JPX 923 HM/HMP players looking at wedge S23 set up. I typically play a 48, 54, 58 degree setup but doesn’t look like a 48 is being offered right now. Also don’t really want to bend anything strong either with risk of increasing offset and reducing bounce. What is everyone doing to gap the 42.5 PW with rest of their wedge set?

1. Go 46, 50, and 54 and dump the lob wedge (hey if Rocco Mediate did it, I’m sure it’s fine)

2. Go 46, 54, 58 and bend the 46 1-2 degrees weak.

3. Go 54, 58 in S23s, and grab JPX 923 Forged (49 degrees), and bend 1-2 degrees strong or leave as is.

4. Go 46, 50, 54, 58 and throw something out during tourney/competition play.

Thoughts or other suggestions?

Get the 46 and bend 2° weak, not a big deal at all. I bend my wedges all the time with no issues. In fact, Mizuno would bend the 46° 2 weak and slap a 48° badge on it.

Has any confirmed what the “standard” lofts they forge before they are adjusted to the various lofts?

Videos from chris, especially on short game are very good generally, only thing I’d hold at against him is doing so much with James Robinson! Decent one here on the s23.

Still waiting on a reply from Mizuno on what loft and grind heads are the “standard” that they forge then adjust. However, I was able to find this in a video. I’m not sure if the lofts/grinds are the “standard” heads that are adjusted to the odd lofts.

Mizuno is also releasing them in odd # lofts vs going through the process of bending them. Most of the good online shops will show this.  I’m eying the 55. They never did this with the S18 line.

They are up for pre order on some of European sites and non of the unusual lofts are listed, just the normal 50/52/54/55/58/60.

I really want a 55 that says 55 on it for some reason!

Based on loft and bounce you can tell which are “standard”

S-grind  -  46/08, 51/09, 56/12

D-grind  -  56/10

C-grind  -  58/08

X-grind  -  60/06

I’m waiting on confirmation from Mizuno, but I think they are only producing a few even number lofts in certain brands then bending strong or weak for odd and other lofts. I think this is the case because they show the offset changing on the different lofts.

Without seeing the offset numbers you can’t tell which heads they are using or if they are bending weak or strong. Hopefully I’ll get an answer from Mizuno soon.

With that strong 42.5 “PW”, I’d start with a 46, 52, 58 setup.
This setup will also allow you to bend 1-2 degrees to fine tune your gaps, and you don’t have to throw something out for competitive rounds.
