Is the embargo date for these the same as the 923 series?  Sept 20?

It's interesting that every company uses the same letters for grinds. C, D F, M, S, and X. I'd go with B-grind, E-Grind, O-Grind and V-Grind.

Driver - Ping G440 LST 9° (+1°)

3 Wood - Ping G430 Max 15°

3 Utility - TaylorMade Sim 2 19.5°

Irons - Srixon ZX MKII 4i, ZXi7 5-PW

Wedges -  Callaway MD5 Jaws Raw 50°+54°+58°

Putter - TaylorMade Spider Tour V 35"

Ball - Bridgestone Tour B XS

My guess is that the US Embargo would match the date that they are stating on the Mizuno Japan website, which is 9/16/2022.  Same as what's listed for JPX 923.

As far as my humble thoughts on these wedges, I like the fact that at address position, it looks like a "normal" wedge vs. what a high toe (hi-toe?) wedge would look like.  It's a HECK of a lot better looking at address than the ES21.

Granted, the in the bag/back of the blade isn't as nice and clean as the T22/T20 wedges, but at least down at address, it isn't CRAZY looking...again IMHO.

As far as a the Mizuno S series (silhouette) wedges vs T (teardrop) wedges...they aren't really that much bigger.  They have a little bit of a rounder shape (leading edge and around the heel), but I've never found then to be gigantic steam shovels...which I would probably need...I stink.

I haven’t come across in hand pics but there’s these product pics on Mizuno Japan. The extreme toe weighting is supposed to shift strike point.

Love everything about this wedge, design, grinds, but not a fan of the boron. Have hit Mizuno irons in the past with boron and felt a bit firm to me. i understand why they use it, but prefer a softer feel. Looking forward to testing them out when they come out.

Like I said, it doesn't look CRAZY different from the T series wedges.  The heel is higher, and the leading edge isn't as straight, but for the most part, I think it looks fine...just a touch bit bigger.

t22-copper-wood-address.jpg (T22 Playing position)

Looks WAY BETTER THAN THIS (IMHO):

Large, zoomable image of Mizuno ES21 Wedge. 2 of 3ES21

Back to the S23, I wouldn't say that the weight pad would shift the strike point of the wedge, but it puts the COG in a place where most people strike the face.  I know I am apt to strike the face in that spot.  Lessons might help...or I stink.

Both could be very true.

The Boron irons always had thin-ish faces. Wedges with Boron did always feel good to me and the T22 (with copper underlay) feels sensational. So give these a try, they might positively surprise you

For those who game mizuno wedges, do you have a hard time with the club number not being on the sole? esp like in sunday bags where the irons tend to have less room?

I'm not gonna lie...sometimes I pull the wrong club...even without the Sunday bag.  This includes the ol' 6 and 9 iron mix up.  Again, I need help.

That being said, I play 4 wedges: 45, 50, 55, and 60.  Sometimes I pull the 50 for the 60 an vice versa.  I have the blue T20's and somehow the color of the badging against the blue ion base makes the loft number hard to see at times.  However, it's pretty easy to look at it and say...that has too much/not enough loft for the 50/60 that I thought I pulled.

I have to agree with this. The T22's feel amazing and without the Boron, they'd only last half the year. I dumped all of my Vokeys as soon as I hit these and haven't looked back. They feel so much better than the SM 8's that I don't care to hit another Vokey for the foreseeable future.

I know you said that you would try them, which is good.

I understand your thought about the boron.  Admittedly, a buddy of mine have the S5s that I had a few generations of wedges ago, and that was the last wedge that didn't have the 1025 Boron.  Those things are so sweet and soft, and I keep joking with him that I'm gonna take them from him.

Can I tell the difference between the 1025E vs 1025 Boron.  Yeah.  Is it a HUGE amount...eh...not really.  To steal a phrase: "The boron steel It feels like a knife going through slightly cold butter, while the 1025E feels like a knife going through room temp butter".

Either way, it's butter.  Not quite as soft, but still better than a harder cast wedge.  And the grooves don't deteriorate as quickly.

Honestly, I never had an issue with grabbing the wrong wedge. My bag is a 14 divider bag, I know exactly where each club goes, that may be why.

Would’ve used the T22s if the leading edge didn’t look like it was off the ground, maybe this is better

Same. I loved the feel of the wedges when I tested them, but I can’t chip if the leading edge sits at the equator of the golf ball.
Even the low bounce versions had a crazy tall leading edge.

Agreed. A low bounce needs to be flush. I have struggled with liking recent Mizzy wedges.  Maybe this release will change things.  And I was a long time carrier of Mizuno wedges before my first set of irons, the JPX HMP OG.

Has anyone else seen a North American release date?  I've noticed that all of the golf big box stores (PGATSS, GG, etc.) have the 923 JPX Forged and Tour info up on their websites, but there is still no mention of S23 wedge release.

Getting worried for my late Jan fitting...

I thought the embargo date was this week for the woods and wedges?
