Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy served subpoena over PGA Tour players’ meeting

Are you kidding the PGA Tour is not trying to get back at the players who went to the LIV tour. Did anyone ever think they are trying to protect the players that they have and be nice for a change. What a bunch of whiners who can't be thankful for what the PGA Tour has provided for them and their families. So now the LIV players got some big entitlement issues as they took the money and ran. I will still watch LIV golf as it's more of an exhibition but it's golf as you can't please everyone.

The lawyer who filed this lawsuit i believe once tried to sue a chestnut for being lazy, and also claims to have invented the question mark.

I keep searching to see if he actually has a client in this one....i know he launched that 750M thing on behalf of Patrick Reed.....But it doesn't mention anything here, if he doing this as a private citizen? Can he even do that?

 

Would LIV really want this guy doing their bidding?

 

I hope Monahan goes to the stand and they make him try on a bloody glove.

Guys, I know what you're thinking....You're thinking about taking that $100 milli with LIV and running.  But honestly with inflation, after taxes that will barely cover my yacht, privacy.  So just food for thought if you thought that would lead you to retirement, because honestly, after you join LIV, you'll wish you had a yacht to escape to.  That'd be a good boat name by the way.

 

Now, the PGA has promised us some big improvements:

1) increased tournament winnings

2) smaller fields in a select number of tournaments

3) premium bathroom toilet paper

4) unlimited supply of jalapeno favored chips and double stuffed oreos

5) Shorts, you finally get to wear shorts...well kinda, they have to be cut-off jean shorts.  preferably wranglers.  (hoodies are still banned though)

6) last but not least, you won't have to play with Patrick Reed.  Yes!  I haven't been this excited since I won the '19 Masters.

Don’t like LIV, think the PGATour was a brilliant idea for bettering the lot of pro golfers which a lot of the whiners just don’t understand (they are golfers and their agents, not necessarily people endowed with a tremendous amount of understanding, to say the least), but if you have a “secret meeting” of providers of a service when suits and threat of anti trust suits are about, you better expect to have what is said repeated in court.

 

The changes may mollify the people who stayed but still seem to lack any understanding of what the Tour does for them as structured and who forced the changes, but to the extent they involve having the Tour’s funds accrue to particular people (say the current members) irrespective of them earning anything competitively, they tend to undermine the Tour’s tax status and explode the alleged fiction (a useful, harmless one for the most part, IMO) that the Tour and its members is not engaging anti competitive activity but instead is just promoting golf generally.

 

It’s not just the players who went to LIV who have lost sight of the big picture.  The PGA is morphing from an organization that can plausibly be claimed to support golf and pro golfers in general to one that makes money for particular golfers, despite things like trying to frame the PIP them way they do.

 

Bottom line, Woods and McIlroy get changes that bring more money to Woods and McIlroy, and endanger the whole structure that made them what they are.

So the subpoena is for them to testify about what exactly , chamblees commentary  ?   Can’t they just debate what the definition of  is - is ….. and throw in a few pip pip Cheerios and all that rot ?  Ham it up and say a lot of words , but say nothing.  I mean this is a farce based on a lie that that was never really told.

No, my understanding is this is part of his other lawsuit where he's suing the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Jay Monahan, and Keith Pelley for anticompetitive practices under Florida state law that have reduced the fan experience at specific tournaments he bought tickets or was planning on buying tickets for.

His complaint is that because the PGA Tour suspended/banned golfers, his spectator experience was negatively impacted. How that actually works is beyond me. It’s a very Larry Klayman argument (I’m not linking to the complaint; you can still save your brain cells, I can’t get mine back)
