How to remove end cap from SuperStroke weight screw?

This, either in a vice or just grip it with a pair of pliers in one hand and unscrew with the other.  I had the same thing happen and superglued the broken threads back in the end of the grip before putting the blank end cap back in.  Held up enough where I could still put in different counter weights.  Epoxy would probably be even stronger, but I only had 24 hr epoxy and am impatient so went with superglue.

Something is not right in your pic of the weight. The black plastic cap is a separate cap from the weight, all SuperStroke grips which can use the weight initially come with the plastic cap installed. You buy the weight separately, unscrew the black cap with the hex key, insert the weight and screw in using the hex key. Did you buy the putter already with the weight installed in the grip?

The anodized red screw top is glued into the silver shaft part but it is fairly easy to break that bond.

The question for the poster is "what did he do with the original plastic cap?" He should not have to break the red top off the weight. I suspect he bought it used and was not given the plastic cap. He could call SuperStroke and see if they would send him one. It is usually my luck when I am told "easy to break the bond", it isn't and the part I am trying to save intact breaks. YMMV

That makes sense if he wants to go to the trouble of waiting on SS to send him a new cap. I think I have one or more laying around that I removed when I added weights to my putters. 

 

I have experience in this area because I drilled out the center of my red weight cap to install a garmin sensor on my putter. When I started working on it the red part separated from the weighted part before I did much of anything. It's only glued in there and the nub that goes into the shaft is quite short. Very easily removed.

In the picture of the weight in the first post the black plastic stuck around the red weight is the “receiving” threads that are part of the end of the grip cap.  I’ve had this same thing happen where that part of the grip itself breaks off from the rest of the grip. To use the grip (without a big hole in the end) you’d need to unscrew the red weight from the plastic receiver part, glue that receiver piece back into the end of the grip, then screw in a blank end cap with no weight. 
 

I also have a bunch of the blank end caps sitting around if OP or anyone else is looking for one . . . I’ve installed and removed more SS grips on my putter(s) than I really care to think about . . .
