LIV Golf Invitational - Chicago (*** No Thread Crapping ***)

Looking forward to this event. Quite a few of these players are coming into this event oven ready after Wentworth. 

I'd like to see Talor Gooch win this - he's taken a lot of stick in the last couple of months. Finished well at Wentworth. McDowell could be a lively outsider.

On another note i really wish the Iron Heads , featuring Sadom Kaewkanjana , would find a way to sign a golfer named Gomorah. I mean at that point they could have the best team name by a mile.

I can throw LIV Golf on my tablet while I have football on my TV and check in on both.  That is a nice benefit for LIV being able to be streamed on YouTube.

I'll likely have it on all three days, I enjoy the coverage, especially the lack of commercials.  I watch zero football, college or pro, so I'm enjoying the chance to watch some golf in the fall.

Will be interested to see how RHF holds up, IMO it's not thought of as a "tour level" course and is a long ways from the city. They have had some other high level events like the NCAA finals there but nothing with top level players like this.

I only stream. We have two Google Chromecast devices so I'll have football on one, Fortinet coverage on the second tv, and LIV on my laptop. Plus my wife is out of town this weekend. I love her dearly, but talk about an ideal weekend.

 

Oh and couple that with a beer league hockey game Friday night and a tee time on Saturday morning.

Okay that is way out there from downtown CHI.  I am sure most at a min will have 30-40 min drive and CHI traffic blows as we all know.

 

Well at least parking is free to offset the drive 😜   

 

*Parking is the one thing the PGAT does nail you on. lWM event I went to a pass for Friday round was $40.  So if you went all 4 days it adds up.

Yep, this one is out in the Kounta...not too far from me. Chicagoland is kind of charming in that once you get directly west of Stan Mikita's Donut Shop in Aurora, it becomes drastically rural. This Rich Harvest Farms course is a bit of an enigma to us locals. The personal namesake playground built by the man who invented the barcode scanner. It's a fitting place for a LIV event in the sense that big money loves big money.

I live near Medinah in Chicagoland; trust me, this is still Chicagoland (suburbs).  It can easily take you 45 mins to get from one address in the City to another in the City.  There will not be bad traffic near Rich Harvest and this is under an hour drive from me, which again is nothing for being near a big city.

Also, I find it interesting that Jerry Rich supposedly built Rich Harvest Farms because he couldn't get into Augusta. Something about how he was miffed there was no application he could fill out. So he went and....created a golf club that only has 50 members which....has no application to fill out? Seems counter intuitive?

Yes, you're right, and I'm wrong. I don't know why I can't ever spit that one out correctly, it's been explained to me multiple times. Someone, when I was young, planted the barcode thing in my head and it stuck. 

 

I don't know much about the club, but I have friends who play it regularly, and I know one member famous for his ice cream making. From what I understand about the place it is very nice, but quite spread out. So much so that even trying to walk it is a chore (trips between holes). It might be a tough course for spectating. It is a stout test of golf, though. Or so I've been told.

... Yup a little difference between the actual city of Chicago and Chicagoland. Much like Los Angeles. Lived there 42 years and most that lived in the suburbs went by their suburban name locally, but when traveling always said we were from Chicago not Bolingbrook or Schaumburg.
