Dont know. I will say though that the LIV site shows a more clean presentation, where youtube requires switching over to fullscreen to eliminate all the side noise. But I perused both feeds and dont see where the content itself was any different

Just finished watching the replay on YouTube. A lot of guys with great rounds today, and DJ was obviously on fire. Nice to see Phil shoot under par. The weekend should be exciting!

The bugs are a factor this week. Keep seeing players swatting away bugs. They all must have gotten bug repellent last night. The players who pick the most effective bug repellents will have an advantage and likely outperform the field. 😂

Looking forward to todays' round. The announcers just alluded to the world rankings. I wouldn't be surprised if the PGAT is putting pressure on the Majors to ban the LIV guys.

might have been first time DJs score was not used?.   Reed and Perez shot -3/-1 to keep a one stroke lead.   3 scores count tomorrow, sometimes its like a roller coaster ride with the team score swings.

Always enjoyed watching Cameron Smith. He has a knack of scoring well when his long and approach game is a bit off.

So I went out to the LIV event yesterday, not because I support LIV, but mainly just to get an eyes on of what it was all about. I'll also admit that this the first golf tournament I've ever attended, as the PGA doesn't get out to the Chicagoland area much, and I'm not driving out to TPC Deere Run, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. 

 

Parking was barely organized chaos of staff directing us into a flattened corn field. Walking into the event there was branding everywhere, including a mildly confusing slogan I hadn't heard before "Don't blink, or you'll miss it". The visitor's village was full of carnival games such as softball fast pitch, an impossible putt, and more. They had a lot of great local food trucks on site for F&B. 

 

As for the golf, I can't imagine it's any different than any other tournament, with the exception that the crowds were small enough that you could easily walk right up to the ropes on any tee box or green anytime you wanted, which I'll admit was pretty cool. For "Golf but louder" caddies and starters sure tried to quiet down crowds an awful lot, though they couldn't do anything about the very mediocre music playing loudly everywhere.

 

One thing I noticed that outside of two exceptions, it didn't seem much like a competition. Golfers didn't seem to care a lick when putts didn't drop. Paul Casey even laughed and shrugged about a heartbreaker lipping out and joked around with Chase Koepka and the crowd. The only real emotion I saw was from Brooks angrily slamming a headcover over a missed putt, and Reed trying his best to do an impersonation of what he thinks is the cool kid at recess. For the most part it just seemed like guys going through the motions of a 9-5 job just trying to get done and clock out for the day. 

 

All in all I enjoyed the experience, but mostly just from the unfettered access to watch live golf at that level without having to fight crowds.

Thanks for a recap of your LIV experience.  Sounds exactly like the celebrity championship Lake Tahoe event. Enjoyable experience, some good golf from competitors, and lot of laughs, but no one is leaving hungry or worried about making the next mortgage payment.

Totally different experience when the crowds are light.

 

At the PGA Champ at Bethpage, TW and BK teed off early am and on the 10th hole. It’s a hike to the 10th from the gate, hilly and wet, got to the tee and there’s really just a handful of fans there.

 

Was awesome, followed TW BK shot to shot right up close. Then, was weird like, after the 3rd tee shot, I was walking to the fairway and…there’s like 5 million people appear out of nowhere 🤣

 

Couldn’t deal with it so left the group.

I’ve read a lot on LIV but not commented yet. The formats, tournaments, etc don’t bother me.  There just aren’t many names that excite me. Aside from Cam, DJ and Bryson the rest are guys that kind of are in the tail end of their careers as they are late 30s,40s or nearing 50. Maybe some combo of this and the DP World Tour makes sense as that’s the only none PGA Tour I’ve really seen that can even come close to try to be an alternative tour.
