Fast Eddie Fernandes is FAST Flat Footed. Upper Body Speed

Fast Eddie probably has one of the best looking smoothest swings of anyone swinging 150... and at 51. Even Tiger had nothing but praise when analyzing his swing (below).

This is one of the craziest displays of speed I've seen, casually swinging 149, then going 141+ club speed, 199+ BS flat footed:

Big wingspan at 6'4", big turn even flat footed. He believes in upper body driving the majority of speed, and lower body action (intentional) adding 5-10% as demonstrated. He's definitely one of those guys that I say are "just fast", and likely has a high percentage of fast twitch muscle fibers that helps amplify speed with his technique and training - world class speed.

For me the upper body rings true as I've gained speed this year (5'6" shorty creeping past 120). No Turn Cast, awareness of shoulder turn, and wrist release helped the most for me, as for a few years I couldn't sniff 120. I feel I got too passive with the hands with too little focus on upper body. It might've taken a back seat to ground reaction force drills, but happy to make some gains.

Size and levers play a huge factor obviously, if he was say the size of Justin Thomas would his swing be that fast? Probably not but he'd probably still be fast. Bigger and taller guys will have a natural advantage, smaller guys will have to work a bit harder but can still send the ball a long way.

Not saying his swing and abilities are not impressive it's a great swing I'd love to have but he's steps ahead with his build.

For sure. If big and tall guys can move their levers as quick as smaller guys like JT or Rory, they will have that advantage. Jamie Sadlowski was an exception as a WLD champ under 6'.

It's similar to other sports where plenty of guys and girls can bring all-time speed at average or even shorter heights: Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce at 5'0' in sprinting... Andy Roddick serving speeds in tennis... But then some standouts come along with quick bigger bodies, like Usain Bolt, Aaron Judge.

For sure like myself for example I'm 6'3" and have a wingspan of around 6'10" so I have the levers to get that club moving, problem is right now I'm really fat and not as flexible as I used to be but I can still touch 125mph CHS if I'm feeling good, loose and go after one. If I can keep up my workout plan and get me weight down I think it's possible to coast at 130mph and maybe chase 140mph but I'm not really doing long driver just like using this as something to chase and see my improvements.

Makes me wonder what max speeds have been reached by people of different heights and wingspans. The correlation of height to speed probably isn't strong because of body types, mechanics, athleticism, muscle composition... But surely it helps for potential or ceiling. Kyle Berkshire is "only" 6'3" not the biggest guy but not small, but if he was 6'8" with the same explosiveness... who knows.

For someone like me at 5'5"-5'6" who would look short even next to a 5'9" Rory, but still swinging 121, it would be interesting to see the actual demonstrated fastest people at this height/wingspan to see that potential.

Fastest guy i've seen in that 5'5/5'6 range is Jovani Lechadores. Shortest guy as far as I know to break 220 ball speed back in 2019. Trying to catch him myself lol.

Wow now that's serious speed from 5'6". I was pumped with 179... 😥
