Winter Vest

Any recommendations? Trying to find a low volume down type  vest.

Love my Zero Restriction.   Not the cheapest but great vest and ideal for golf.

I'll second this, not the cheapest is a kind way to say it, but this is one of those situations where I truly feel that you get what you pay for because its excellent.

Love my peter millar

Insulated in the front, stretch material in the back

keeps me warm, and doesn't restrict anywhere at all

Thirds. Love my zero restriction. Very lightweight and comfortable but warm.

I have one from Sunice that is good and golf specific. Insulated front and back with stretch side panels. I also have a Spyder vest with insulation only on the front. Don’t like it as much but it is great for cycling in cooler weather. 
 

I also took an older vest from LLBean to a seamstress. She added fleece stretch panels on both sides and it worked out great. Fairly minimal cost, but something I’d do to just about any insulated vest I buy. 
 

If not windy, a basic fleece works great.

Agree. As does adidas and sun mountain. The Sunice just fit me a bit better.

I meant to mention adidas as well.  I bet Sunice is nice.  I wish our shop had an account with them 😬

I have a couple of the now-discontinued Mizuno WinLite vests.  They work great. I also have a few of the long sleeve versions too. I don't know what magic material goes in them but they will keep you warm with no problem. They're also fairly lightweight and quiet while swinging.

Frankly, the Patagonia is so far beyond a “golf vest” that they aren’t really comparable. Note the current price if you can fit into an M.

Literally just tried on a Peter Millar vest for fun today. Fit well. Warm in the right spots.

This is funny. I picked up a Navy M for casual wear but was looking at the Nano puff for golf.

Try the ping Norse vest. Adidas frostguard is a pretty good one too but a little stiffer. The Norse is primaloft and the adidas is down

The tough thing about the Patagonia vests (and others) is limited stretch.  A lot of golf-specific vests will have side panel inserts that make them less restrictive when swinging.

 

Love Patagonia, but I like my other options better for golf.

I have a zero restriction which is awesome.  Anyone try the rechargeable vest with the built in heaters??  I have zero tolerance for the cold…was maybe gonna try that this winter…with a matching skirt 😬

I have a nano pullover. The Nano is synthetic insulation as you know. It doesn’t fit as conformal as the down version, isn’t as warm, and the insulation “blankets” move more as a unit, so the whole garment moves when you swing.
I think that it’s a potential distinct advantage to a down vest that the insulation has no restriction to movement. If you want something that’s warm into the 30’s, it’s the answer IMO.

I have four Patagonia Better Sweater vests.  I wear them to work, casually, and definitely on the golf course.  Simple, functional and they look great.

anyone tried the new Ping Norse 4 ??  they have a vest version too.

 

For those who are not familiar with the Norse, its quite possibly one of my best purchases for winter golf. Many on here can attest to this too. A t-shirt under a Norse jacket, and i am good for 30 - 50 degree days.

Based on the pictures I’ve seen I’m worried version 4/s4 is going to be too bulky in the chest like the s3 was (speaking of the jacket only)

they got the thickness perfect on the first two versions but last years was too bulky in the front for me to play in

 

the vests are great though.  thin, warm and lots of stretch and they pack down small

Exactly my concern too @Unteachable. Even the Version 2 was a tad bulky for me. 

 

Im trying to venture into wearing vests. Not sure how my body would hold up to colder temps without sleeves.. I know it would probably free up my swing a tad, just not sure too confident about staying completely warm with a vest.

im the same way- i usually go for a light jacket with a lot of stretch (the norse zoned or something similar) in those 45 degree temps and go with the full norse when it gets real cold.  I like the looks and swinging in the vest but my arms tend to get to cold but i always ride in a cart

How's Pings sizing?  Run small or large?
