In my experience, Ping sizing runs large. I have a small Norse jacket and it's a bit roomy for my liking. Sleeves are too long. I wear small in RLX, Greyson, PM, Nike, among others.

Love my Rhoback winter vest.  Stretchy material on the sides reduces and restrictions on the swing.  On the few days in Central Florida that are cold enough to wear a winter vest it has always done me right. Also, it looks great.

My go-to is layering with outdoor gear pieces. I usually layer a standard fleece with an ultralight climbing softshell (like the Black Diamond Alpine Start or Marmot Lightstream). They are stretchy enough and built with arm range of movement for climbing which is plenty for golf. Water resistant enough for playing even in a downpour (as long as you have an umbrella), wind resistant enough up to 30mph gusts, but most importantly breathable so you don't start to sweat and get cold. If that's not enough I'll throw a Patagonia Nano Puff vest on and I've played rounds down below 45F in the rain here in the midwest and was plenty warm.

 

But seriously ultralight climbing softshells are an absolute game changer, you can wear them over a tshirt at 70F or layer them in any combo down into the 20s.

I wear a large in polos and outerwear  from pretty much every company.

The ping stuff I have (probably 10 different pieces from jackets to pullovers to polos) is all large as well but slightly more fitted than other brands in the jackets and quarter zips. 
I get xl in their t shirts and hoodies 

If you have a big gut you might want to size up. I’m more of an athletic build and find them to fit good in the shoulders and chest in my normal size and trim in the waist which is what I want

I just picked up the adidas statement hooded vest. I’m not one for vests but it’s undeniably comfy, has hand pockets that don’t get in the way and isn’t super long, which is a big complaint as an average height person lol. The hood is also a nice touch. Throw some hand warmers in the front pockets and you’re good to go.

Current hi-tech fabrics are great. I don't like to wear more than three layers when playing and that's easily done with good gear.  In cooler/cold weather I'll always start with a quality base layer (usually Under Armor).  Then I'll usually put on a Mizuno Windlite sweater over the base. I'll top this off with a quality windbreaker (usually Zero Restriction).  The three layer pieces that I use all come in different weights for varying temperatures. Thus I can mix and match components to get me through any weather I care to play in.  The ZR outer layers vary from just a simple windbreaker, to a ZR Windstopper jacket, to a ZR Gortex jacket.  I like three layers as it affords me the option of shedding the outer layer as the day warms up.  Simple but effective.

I agree there. I have a pair of the Ping winter mittens in large size (my normal glove size) and they're so long Sasquatch could wear them. 😄

Arcteryx Atom. I have both the vest and jacket. Expensive but there is no better technical wear - light, low volume, warm, packable.

I have a couple of the Under Armour ColdGear Reactor Vests and I like them.  They are a good option for moderate price compared to other options.
