Arnold Palmers only design in Oregon is a fantastic track!

 

Curious why it is not mentioned here much?

 

I was there last week for the 1st time, my buddies and I had a great time, 4 rounds, the entire course was in beautiful shape, the greens were pure and faster than any track I have played in the last 20 years private or public, we were amazed a resort course would cut them so tight. Stay below the hole if you can!

 

Anyway, I highly recommend the course if you're anywhere near the area.

I've stayed at the Running Y in December a couple of times, it's either been way too cold or snow covered so I couldn't really grasp the layout.

 

Funnily enough, I can't recall ever hearing from anyone I play with (friends or random pairings) in Portland even talk about Running Y.

 

Would love to hear some more first hand tales if anyone has 'em!

It's one of my favorites, but it's so far away and I live in southern Oregon.

Probably because the same amount of drive time from Portland gets you to Bandon...

True enough. I was caught in a snow storm last winter and it took about 8 hours to get down to Klamath. Rough day.

 

I assumed more folks would give it a go as it seems like a solid course at a resort. Chuck it in with a Crater Lake trip and it sounds like a decent little weekend.

Of course Bandon is the place to go.. can't deny that. I've been several times.

 

$75-55 green fees, stay on the property which is wonderful and a 4.25 hr drive from Reno is now going to be a yearly guys trip.

 

Early October was perfect weather too.

 

I should say, all of you stay away and we can play as much as we want.:)

Just got back from our now yearly 3 day trip to Running Y Ranch, course is in amazing condition and the greens are as fast and as tough as anywhere I've ever played.

Another trip in at the Y, conditions were excellent, 4 days next year. 

 

Of course green fees went up but still a bargain.

 

One of my buddies ( 18 hdcp) made a hole-in-one on number 5, very cool to watch it roll in off the mound on the left side of the green into the hole. He's not up on golf jargon, I led off after birdie on 4 and when he stepped to the tee I said, we're thirsty, he thought this meant hit it in the lake right,haha.

He got of cheap too, a few double tequila's.

Shout out to the director of golf, I went into the pro shop and asked if they did anything for the rare feat and the kid looked at me like I was crazy. Director of golf stepped in and asked if I would like a flag for him. Very cool.

 

As I said before, everyone stay away, at least when we're there, lol .
