They just got a bunch of like new CBX Zipcore wedges.  Maybe Cleveland sold a lot of them, who knows?  Zipcore 2 has come out so now this is last years model.

 

I'm a fan of easy to hit clubs and the CBX line is very easy to hit.  I'm tempted to get one of each that I don't already have, lol.

So this was my driver find I posted about. Turns out I was right and it’s legit!

 

While browsing the new driver clearance listings I saw a rogue ST LS noted as a “10.5+” loft. I said self, that’s a super rare tour truck only loft - if in fact the person who took it into inventory saw what they wrote.

 

It was not marked tour certified or tour anything just a normal model with a special note under loft specifying the +.

I guess its not some crazy driver but I've never seen one for sale and not even on ebay.

I was about to pull the trigger on an Epic max fairway wood and a wedge, but thought I would check the CPO eBay account.  It turns out to be $20 cheaper on eBay, notwithstanding the 20-40% sale going on right now on CPO.

Nice pickup, but I hate how CPO marks TA serial heads and TC serials. I guess TC just means 'tour certified' for them and not actual TC heads all the time.

Agree.  The DS was a TC serial, this is a TA serial.  Both were “TC” in the listing.  But this is now my gamer, so no biggie, but of course this did not come with a loft sticker since it is “TA”.  Both came with noodles for shafts.  Both appeared to be unhit.  For $247 I am not complaining.

@third-times-a-charm have you ever seen any old x prototype irons pop up lately in left hand? Surely there’s some stock set aside for Phil they need to move 😅 i check everynow and then but nothing. They’ve always been on my list of dream irons but I’ve never grabbed a set

Not sure, I dont look at anything older than 2016ish very often. You can always call them and ask if theres any in inventory thats not shown on the website.

Thats a special sale category and it runs monthly along with clearance. Its usually 20% off. You can always call them and say you missed the last go around and see if theyll retro honor it - many times they do.

Yes - .75* more loft. So instead of the head being +-.2 from 10.5 it's about 11.25* of loft. Allows the use of higher loft in a low spin head but without closing the face angle when using the +1 setting on the adapter. So it will sit neutral to open, still, and have the higher loft. Or it can be turned down in loft and open face angle even more - or go crazy high in loft to almost 12* and still not sit closed.

@third-times-a-charm Can you tell me anything about this Epic Speed Fairway?

 

I didn't really have much use for it but picked it up on a whim thinking it was cool to have an adjustable head.  

 

After further inspection, I'm thinking it's some sort of prototype.  I've seen a few triple diamond fairway heads, but not with an adjustable sleeve.  Has TC serial number but just curious if you knew anything about it..

Its not a proto. It's a tour only adjustable triple diamond 3 wood from the Epic line 2 years ago (3 product cycles ago).

 

Very nice 3 wood. Evolution of the 'sub zero' model. Fade biased, but ever so slightly more draw biased than a bonded hosel due to the few more grams in the heel + adjustability.

 

You get it from CPO?

Thanks for the info..  I didn't get it from CPO, but this thread inspired me to find some of the more rare Callaway woods out there.  Before finding this thread, I wasn't aware there were so many variations that existed.  Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!

 

I've got lots of stuff from CPO, but never any tour issued products.  Might be time to give it a try!

I just got a Rogue Max D three wood with my preferred shaft for $140. It might have been cheaper elsewhere, but CPO gave me $75 trade for my Mavrik 4 wood that I recently paid $80 for. 🙂

Heads up: I dont think these are actual TC serial heads (bonded). I ordered some a few months ago from CPO and returned them as they were the adjustable fitting heads with F and V serials - NOT TC  as stated - and I think someone in the warehouse @ CPO is confused.

While I've never seen irons, I seem to remember some fairways or hybrids last year in lefty that were tour only, and never in retail production. Reading between the lines they were likely made for him, but my memory is a little fuzzy on it.

Yes, that was one of third-times' holy grails.  As a lefty, I'll snap up almost anything cool or rare just to get it, but of course not everything pans out.  This adjustable hosel TC Mavrik SZ 4 wood though, has become an absolute fixture in my bag. 

 

Paired it up with a HZRDUS Black 70, and it is by far the most reliable fairway wood I have ever played, and that includes like every Ping and Callaway model over many years, plus TM, Cobra, etc.  Not sure why it works so well, but it is money for me.  Heavier weight in the back, lighter weight in the front.

I had it in the righty. Didn't have the time to dial it in so I moved it along. Really cool club though, a beast if I caught it right.

Yep, it took a little time and dialing in to get it whipped into shape.  I already had a full complement of Callaway weights in terms of swing weighting, tried different combos with the back and front weights and its effect on spin and forgiveness, and then I happened to grab a cheap Smoke Black FW shaft off CPO that was the final piece. 

 

Amazing club now.  I play it at S/N.
