It's been just over 72 hours since the first web issues. They are probably still doing audits and fixing issues. The public will never be pleased with any response they provide during this time regardless of what it is. Joe Schmoe who just wants to talk to someone in CS but cant or placed an order but didnt get a confirmation or something else really benign wants heads to roll for their extreme slight against them in their eyes even though they are non issues right now.

 

I had a catastrophic failure at work a few months ago and had to manage and orchestrate a complete recovery of a website network where even the backup system had issues. That was a nightmare and for a system that was just front-end web and not e-commerce related even it was a bear of a task which took 48 hours to completely get back running off of an old copy.

 

Is an answer of "Sorry all, one of our employees royally messed up and we're working on it" really going to solve anything? Maybe they will, maybe they wont, maybe the firm theyve surely hired will release a case study. Who knows.

As someone who works in a related field as well, this is a nightmare scenario. Always keep and test your backups people. They've saved my hiney a couple times.

So since we can't call them, nor login to our accounts to then place an order (to use points and get free shipping), is everything still on hold with the latest promo expiring tonight?  Was hoping to grab another couple putters.

I know they can add orders/points to your account post-purchase. I assume thats what they will be doing for people here. I used to place ebay orders on the CPO ebay store and would call CS to have them add it to my rewards.

Anyone been able to use paypal on the CPO site? I am trying to buy a putter but I cannot find paypal option anywhere.

And, I am unable to log in to use any points I have.

Hey, I can finally see my order status! It's still showing as "Being Processed" after having placed the order on 8/2. I take it this is progress, though. Maybe it'll ship today.

Just my opinion, but the lack of public statement is really not a good look. I work in the tech field, so I understand they can't say much other than "We're experiencing ongoing technical issues that we are working on, please bear with us and we apologize for tne inconvenience". But still advertising on the social accounts just seems disingenuous.

How did you log in?  I still don't see that option on any Callaway site at the moment.

Yup, although it's clearly still messed up. I can't see any rewards and some of the fields just look wonky. I actually searched by my order number and zip code, though, and that brought up the order I was looking for.

Nice - thats promising. Looks like they do have access to a database backup of their customer backend at least partially including the customer data and past orders. Though I wonder when the cutoff was and if some new orders werent caught in the backup. My last order was from 8/1 and they started having issues on 8/3-8/4.

 

Also still not sure if reps can see current inventory and place orders. It seems the website itself is running off an old backup/inventory from last week as well and anyone placing orders is just reducing a fixed # of inventory counts from that backup as well.

 

I can only assume CPO has not shipped or checking-in any products from returns on trade-ins during this time so there will probably be a massive delay.

As a side note, now that we see the temporary URL structure after logging into that /account link, we can see that Callaway uses Salesforce and the demandware website platform (acquired by salesforce in 2016).

 

I think you guys found that active /account link before Callaway wanted us to since its not active in the site header yet so theyre probably still working on it.

 

Salesforce does offer endpoint protection and ransomware checks/protection so they should be able to get everything back up and running with minimal data loss - but not without a large financial loss with all this downtime.

 

I have $700 in clubs here waiting for return labels so I'm hoping for them to get it going soon as well.

I just got a few automated emails saying my orders from last week was delivered so theyre definitely restoring services behind the scenes and running the automated tasks associated with the web/database restore.

got off the phone with the sales contact @third-times-a-charm has shared in here previously, their back end systems must be up again, he was able to help me place an order for a club I was looking at last week

I placed an order yesterday to take advantage of the current promo before it expired (putter/wedge). I was able to get a confirmation number when placing the order and today was able to log in like some you have stated. I see my points, but I do not see my order listed yet.

 

Just wanted to confirm what others above has shared. I haven't rec'd my order confirmation via email like you typically see. Hopefully we all get to see more updates in the next day or so. Thanks to all who have shared their experience with the ongoing issue with CPO.

 

Also checked my CC has not been charged as of yet.

Interesting. When placed over phone this morning I did get the typical email with order info. The 24 hours must have made a bid difference on their end

Couldn't agree more, I think in last 24 to 48 hrs they did make some strides to get their systems up and running.

 

Glad to hear you got some positive results for calling in your order. Kinda seems like a lost method these days, lol.

Yes indeed! Actually called in to see if they could check for me if there were any sky marks. Totally understandable with everything they have going on nowadays. Great customer service as always when I called in though. Now just awaiting my trade in credit from mid July haha
