Pretty disappointing with my first order from CPO after reading tons of positive reviews on this forum. 
 

needed a new head for a tournament this weekend and ordered an ai smoke on Tuesday and paid for overnight shipping.  Received the club Thursday around noon and noticed the weight was missing and the threads were broken off in the head. This alone was a little aggravating because I’m not sure how this wasn’t caught prior to shipping. I immediately called CPO and explained the situation to them and they said they would get another head out asap. 
 

They didn’t ship the head out until 630 today and noticed that it wasn’t overnighted, but just shipped out standard, so no chance of me getting it before the tournament tomorrow even though I ordered well in advance and paid for overnight. Guess I’ll be grabbing one of the shelf and sending these back.

It happens. CPO is like a garage sale.

 

I have gotten next day air before on replacements, but you have to ask for it.

I know stuff happens for sure. Just a little aggravated unfortunately. I did ask for overnight however and they told me it would be.

Anyone bought irons from clearance section? Iron set I’m looking at in clearance. Hows condition generally.   Doesn’t look like condition listed or should I just call?

I know it's different than some of the other posters here, but long time CPO user

Buying less and less stuff there as the condition of stuff to me is getting worse and worse

Their CS is super awesome to deal with though, so never any hassles for returns

but my keep rate is probably less than 10% for quite a bit now.

Like new to me is the riskiest category.  Used to be very accurate, now i think it's their most inconsistent category, and most of the time for me (and maybe I'm just very unlucky) like new has topline marks etc.  I actually think a lot of it is bc they refuse to put headcovers on when they ship clubs which is bonkers to me.

I still think they are great and have such an awesome selection of stuff.

But the near constant returns for me now have made me order way less stuff from them.

Yea the last couple “very good condition” putters I picked up were more like borderline good/average condition. Nothing that were deal breakers for someone like me that’s just getting into trying/collecting different equipment. Their return policy is great so I’d either send things back or get a condition adjustment

Years ago, I shopped exclusively CPO.  “Like new” often came still in plastic.  Now you’re lucky if the crown doesn’t have a gouge.  And even if the club is ding-free, I need to buff out every crown that is covered in swirl marks.

I bought 6 or 7 like new clubs this year. All were perfect. Pretty sure all were in plastic.

I have bought a few items from CPO this year with no issues.  One was a Paradym 7wd listed as "very good" and it came with the plastic on the head still.  The 5wd I also got was listed as very good and it was somewhere between very good and like new.

 

As others have said, if you have any issues there return process is top notch.

Bought a set of king tours from clearance earlier this summer--I think they were listed as very good. In my opinion they met the criteria: a little bit of extra bag chatter on the 6i, but the rest of the set had face markings that were commensurate of ~1y of use. Grips were in great shape.

Its all over the place but so are most of the second-hand club companies. It's hourly employees checking in items and checking off boxes to see where the club lands. Some arent even golfers. Big YMMV. At least CPO has the best return policy and least hassle when something is wrong - 2nd Swing, GG, etc - not so much.

 

I've gotten average items that look new, very good that looks average, and average that looks like it was dragged behind a truck.

You're always going to hear about the extreme cases on the internet. People really happy about getting a "pre-owned" item still in the wrapper. People upset the item they got being in worse condition than what they expected. 

 

That also leads to people expecting diamonds in the rough all the time and getting mad about it. No, those 4 year old wedges in "average" condition won't be almost new. Luckily those cases usually get laughed off by the sane people. 

 

The other 90% orders that come as expected aren't talked about much. Not to mention the CS is great and will take anything back, no questions asked. 

 

It's a good service that Callaway offers if you use it for what it is, a way to get used or surplus clubs at a discount.

^^^ This is exactly my experience with them now. In like new conditions seems to mean hit a few times as a demo and plenty of shop marks on the crown, a few on the sole and likely some scratching on a graphite shaft. How in the world they can call that "like new" is beyond me. IMO like new should mean zero marks but out of the plastic, maybe some marring on the shaft. Yes you can call and get an adjustment, return or replacement but who wants to go through that on every purchase? I have just lowered my expectation and understand I will have to buff out the crowns, clean up and or buff the shafts, etc.

 

Despite all that, some of the pricing is worth the hassle... a lot of the items, value you wise, just aren't for me anymore.

Anyone have an issue on getting a return shipping label sent to them after its been approved? It will be a week tomorrow that it was requested for a defective item. CPO said its coming but have no idea when.

I have not had an issue, usually when I call for a return usually the label arrives in my inbox within minutes. 

If you have a callaway account, you can also go to your orders and start the return process and ive gotten the shipping label within minutes this way as well.

I do but there is no option for a defective item which is why I started the return over the phone. I was told the issue is since I'm in Canada and there's only one guy (according to CPO) that deals with Canadian return labels so everything is being held up b/c of this. Still should not be taking this long.

mine normally comes within minutes also but the last one I did a week or so ago did take a while for the label email to come through, like a few days to a week

Possibly in your junk mail?  If there's no return label or tracking number in your order history online, then probably nothing in your junk folder.

 

I doubt he's got a weeks worth of labels to create for Canadian customers.  Have you called back to let them know how long you've been waiting?  Surely there's a way to speed things up.

Not in the junk mail either. Yeah my thought exactly. I phoned a few times but all they do is forward another request to this person. They've given me 3 different estimated times for me to receive an email but we're past that at this point.

I had to change my CPO email from iCloud/me to Gmail. I was no longer getting my order emails and trade completed emails. Once I changed to Gmail they started working again. The emails were being zapped at the server as they weren’t in my junk mail.

I had a return in August from callaway.  Received an email saying I should receive my shipping label in 24hrs.  Took about 4-7 days for it to actually show up in my inbox.

I've done quite a few returns and the label has always showed up within minutes. I submitted a return last evening and haven't got my label yet.
