Well said. I also play the Ping G iron and have been looking for something new. Better would be nice too. I absolutely love Ping, but nothing after the G feels like a step up. The 430 seems like a step back. The original ZX4's almost had me, but they looked like puddle of diarrhea, no thanks. The mkII's are such a better package, I am so tempted and I think you made the right call.

I am down to ZX4 mkII, and a couple of other GI/players irons. Or stick with the G's that I know and love. the difference will be minuscule.

I have really liked my Gs too, and haven’t liked any of the g series models since as much either.  The change I decided to make is mostly a vanity/reward project honestly. I wanted something that looked better and something new. I didn’t really “need” something that performed better for me. The Gs have been great. That said, I do think the zx4s will go a tad further and I expect them to be as consistent at least if not slightly better in that regard. But the looks and feel are light years better to me. As I said, vanity/reward project. And your “puddle of diarrhea” comment on the mki’s killed me. If there were an award for most improved looks from one model year to next, the zx4 would have to win.

UPDATE:

Took the 4,7 and PW to the simulator today.

ZX4 4i was a rocket. As you can see from the picture, these clubs are hot. Club looks way cleaner than mki version.

ZX5 7i - felt very similar to the current years version. I couldnt tell much difference in feel and/or performance.

Zx7 PW felt like butter. Very consistent and high launch with plenty of spin.

i did try a zx4 7i with a kbs c taper lite shaft (i currently game kbs tour 120s in other srixons) and the thing was launching. I know the loft is strong but i was hitting a 7i 205 consistently lol. Honestly perhaps a little too hot.  So far im digging the triple combo!

Nice update. I can’t wait to pick up my zx4s and play them. I am probably more the target market for that 7 iron, there is no risk of me hitting it 200 yards.

i know the zx5/7 combo is popular but does anyone play the zx4/5 combo? how would the lofting work on the 4/5 combo? Looking to pick up my first set of ZX and debating doing ZX5, ZX4/5 combo or ZX 5/7 (learn to be a better ball striker and grow with the clubs). any advice is appreciated! Thanks

Get 4-6 ZX4.  You can have them all bent 1* weak or leave the ZX4 4 iron at 21* and bend the 5-6 1* weak.  That should work just fine.

Srixon suggests ZX4/ZX5 as a possible combo on the web site. No reason not to.

Agreed, so much better looking than the first version.  Right there with the 5's and 7's this time around. Also agree that a move from G to this is mostly vanity, but with some look / sound / feel perks.

Id be interested to know this also.  I know the apex set i had had varied lofts but only slightly.  The 4/5 breakdown is what was a problem spot and I actually hit the regular version better and eventually went back to standard versions

Oh my.  After looking for a new set of irons for more than two years, I may have found something better than my T300's.  Only had a few hits with it but right off the bat it is competing well with my gamers.  Can only get better and if it does, it may be my new set of irons.  ZX4's.

Feel and spin is better.  Just need to get a little better comparison on distance to be sure.

I was very surprised how much better the ZX4s look this year. If someone just handed me an iron at the address position I couldn’t tell the new ZX4 from the new ZX5.

I used to have a set of Z585's and they were a bit smaller than the ZX4's, but while the ZX4's appear to be a bit bigger than the T300's, the feel and sound is very pleasing.  Much more muted than the T300's.  Also like the KBS 55 shaft which pretty closely matches the swing weight of the T300's that I have.  Early impressions is very favorable.

I have had an original set of the zx7's for 2 1/2 seasons now and love them.  I bought a set of ZX5's last year to make a combo set, and honestly preferred the zx7's straight through.  I couldn't help myself and just bought a set of mkii zx7's on eBay for $850.  Now I have 3 sets of Srixon's irons.  I barely knew Srixon made irons 8 years ago...

Looks like my T300’s are headed for the backup storage room.  Or to EBay. ZX-4 MK II with Steelfiber shafts are now on order.

I opted to go 6-7 in ZX4 mk II at standard lofts and 7-P in ZX5 mk II, bent two degrees weak.

So yes I have two 7 irons, but I view the ZX4 as my 5 and 6 irons due to the lofts.

ZX4

6 = 25.5

7 = 28.5

ZX5

7 = 33

8 = 37

9 = 41

P = 46

ZX5s came with the wrong shafts so I haven’t hit them yet. ZX4s went exactly the distances  I was hoping for. And they felt awesome. If for some reason the ZX5s spin too much I can always bend them 1 strong again. Paired with a Pro V1 I think they’ll be just fine.

I know this is two clubs off a 4 iron, but the ZX4 6 iron (which I view as a 5 iron) I spoke of above is so easy to hit I’m tempted to see how far down the set I could go before diminished returns. I am thoroughly impressed with ZX4 mk II.  Well done @Srixon / Cleveland Golf !

They really did hit a home run with the ZX4 looks this year.  IMO, the 5's and 7's are pretty much the same. There isn't a big reason to upgrade if you've had anything from the 565 on unless your just itching for fresh sticks. But the ZX4s are MUCH improved in over the previous version.

I think I nailed it with the shaft.  The KBS 55 gram shaft is perfect for my swing speed and demographics.  They just feel effortless to swing and the feel is very, very nice.  Still get feedback, but the kind you can judge, not the kind you regret.

Went with the Lampkin Sonar grips over my usual Sonar Tour and they also enhance the feel.

Just really excited to get the ZX4's outside.  More testing and comparisons to follow.

Question for those that have hit the ZX5 vs the ZX7: what’s the distance difference in the scoring clubs from 8-PW? My assumption is the ZX5 would go further but how much further?

Can someone help me interpret these numbers? First picture is zx7 mkii. Second is zx5 mkii. Both 7 irons with dg s300 shaft. Interested in zx5/7 combo but I'm not a good player. Would like to know if I should go full zx5 or learn to grow into the zx5/7 combo. Thank you

Got out on the course with my new Zx4 mkii today. Other than the 7 iron in my fitting, hadn’t had a chance to hit them at all before the round, so not the best approach to inspire confidence but I was excited to play them right away. I have 5-AW, in KBS max graphite 65 shafts, 2 degrees upright. It was rainy/wet today and turf interaction was good. When I hit them good (which was far less than I hoped, but unsurprising for first attempt), they felt incredible. Got to test out forgiveness on mishits a lot today, and very happy with that as well. Had some bad swings that worked out better than expected. Plenty of height for stopping power despite strong lofts. No trouble stopping a well struck 6 iron on the green pretty quickly.

Looking down on them on the course at address, they don’t look like game improvement irons to me. Look more players distancy I think. They are much more compact than my Ping Gs and look and feel much better. Distances are different between the two on course it seems and this is my first time with graphite shafts, so will take some getting used to. That said, even hitting them mostly poorly today, I loved them. The pure six iron I hit on 10 and eight iron I stuck to 6 feet on 18 were more than enough for a first outing to excite me. Really happy with the purchase so far.

Also, in pro shop they found out I had brand new zx irons, so they gave me zx5 driver to demo for the round (hoping to entice me to buy one of course). I was surprised at how well I hit it and with easy. Only concern was it was a little too drawy for me. Had to start everything up the right side of fairway and protect against the hook. Only hooked one badly. The rest were great despite me hitting it all over the face. Smashed a few out of the center. Assume the overdraw tendency could be fixed with some adjustments. But other than that, driver was easier to hit well than I expected and plenty forgiving.

Went up to the shop today to see the new zx line.  The zx4 is as impressive as everyone has told me, it’s barely noticeable from the zx5. The had a set of the old ones on the sale rack and it’s incredible the shift in profile from the last version.

The 4's will be GI/SGI best of in a lot of publications. It is odd though as some You Tubers, including TXG, referred to the thicker topline of the 4. The 4,5 and 7 all have same thickness of top line so this clearly a generic throw away line or an illusion created by offset. The blade length of the 4 vs 5 is 1-2 mm and sole width is 3-4mm, iirc. The 4's are where it's at. Just take this and call me...

Zx4

5,6,7 irons bent I weak

ZX5

8-A stock lofts.

Or just play the 4s..

Yep topline all the same from what the website says and what i saw.  On the ground you can barely tell.  Sole is maybe a hair wider and the blade a hair longer.  I wish they just went all in with combo sets out of the box like Callaway did so all the lofts blend as they intended.

Went to my local golf store today with all intentions of hitting the mizuno HMP more- had hit the 7 in the sim and loved it. I also read some points discussing significant gapping issues with the Mizuno’s in the scoring irons.
On a whim I hit the zx5 mk2 irons and was blown away. Amazing feel, so easy to hit, nearly as long as the HMP while going higher.
anyone experience any gapping issues with the zx5, especially the scoring clubs?  I’m a lefty so no gap wedge available- planning on getting a cbx or zipcore to act as the gap.
