Srixon ZX MKII Irons

So I play the original ZX7's and love them. I tried the ZX5's to make a combo set, and it just didn't work for me.  I have a set of ZX7 MKii 5-PW that just got shafted, and I have a ZX4 iron in a 6 iron coming for an experiment.  I want to see if the ZX4 6 iron can replace my ZX7 5 iron with similar distance but better forgiveness (the ZX4 6 iron loft is similar to the ZX7 5 iron).  If so, then I will get a ZX4 6 iron as well, then have a combo set with a ZX4 6 and 7 iron, and ZX7 7-PW.

@rcolwell7 I placed an order for ZX7 and Z-Forged both MKII from DD several weeks ago with 'custom' shafts, DG 120 X100. DD's automated email confirmation stated something like 2-3 weeks but they were on my doorstep a week later. Unless there's a general backlog on $-Taper 1230 then you'll likely get yours sooner than the stated 3 weeks. 

I posted that earlier and got the shipping notification 15 min ago.

Ordered feb 26 direct through Dunlop, got them yesterday

 

haven't had a chance to hit them but very happy with how they turned out going from zx4 4i to zx5 5i and zx5 7i to zx7 8i

picked up my new zx7 mkii today too! I don't even want to take the plastic off 

my 58 black rtx also so so beautiful! need to snow to leave ASAP

Looks great! Fellow lefty thinking of doing a very similar combo set, or going straight zx5. Did you have any of the lofts adjusted? Keep us in the loop if any gapping issues- I don’t know if I’ll find a gap from the zx4 to 5 even if proper lofts just because it’s a hotter design.

One time on course, couple TrackMan sessions. And Srixon wants to take it in for "repair" which is 2-3 weeks. Not a happy camper.

I just did a fitting at club champion today. I went in there looking at my long game turned out I needed new irons. Got fitted for ZX-5 4-GW. Paired with Fujikara Vista Pro shafts which were the cheapest shafts I tested, and they were still an arm and a leg. The sole on the ZX-5 are great for me as a steep player.

Only change I made was to get the 50 zip core to 51 to match the ZX7 AW loft that's not available in LH

 

I'm in the NE so not sure when I'll actually get to do some real outdoor gap testing but probably should take them to the Sim in the near future

I know ping would handle a defect a lot differently for sure 😔

Ping would get a replacement out ASAP and have you mail back the damaged club once it was received.

This is a real bummer. I was debating ordering a set. It looks like it is paint sprayed on plastic?  Do I still order these, get zx4, cobra king tour or forged tec, i230 or g430. Hum.

I'm hoping Srixon realizes that it's a defective head and will just swap / let me purchase one and then refund when mine gets back to them. I have a zx4 4 iron and the rest of the set looks fine. They are outstanding irons, I'm happy with my purchase, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

No reason not to check them all out. It’s a real battle this year between Srixon, Mizuno, Ping and Cobra. I think ZX4 and Forged Tec (standard) are the best-sized and best-feeling hollow heads I have come across. I liked the Mizuno 225 but the Cobras and Srixons are more forgiving. That class of player’s distance iron has come a long way in a short time.

i think it was mentioned here previously that srixon doesnt do custom orders for swingweight yes? and lie angle is only in increments of 1 and not 0.5?

 

i realize that with 1/2 overlength clubs a lighter club weight is being used.

yes custom options were +/- 1, 2, 3 in loft/lie and no sw options

Anyone have any idea on lead times for shafts?  Shafts like the MMT 105stiff or steelfiber i95s for example, or is it just put your order in and wait.

I got custom tour 105x soft stepped delivered in 6 days after order. The balls actually are lagging behind.

The new MKii ZX5s came in. It was like putting on your favorite jeans or shoes.  All the frustration I had with the Hot Metals immediately melted away in a range session today.  The new ZX5s play very similar. to the previous model. The only thing I noticed was a slightly softer feel.  Glad to be back.

just placed my order for zx5 mk2 5,6 irons, zx7 mk 2 7-PW in C-taper lite stiff.

 

might have to send my clubs to the club fitter to have it 1/2 degree flatter and D5 SW
