Anyone compare these to the i230s?

I spent my winter comparing the zx7 mkii and ping i230. Srixons were sold pretty quickly. I230s were also sold since I'm a wrxer and then bought back because I missed them so much. I think srixons are great. I do wish I would've given them a chance to hit off turf but i loved the i230s way too much to even bother. I just didn't see much difference in last years zx7 to the new one. Just my opinion of course.

The new MKii ZX5s came in. It was like putting on your favorite jeans or shoes.  All the frustration I had with the Hot Metals immediately melted away in a range session today.  The new ZX5s play very similar. to the previous model. The only thing I noticed was a slightly softer feel.  Glad to be back.

Agreed on all of this. Feel is improved and seem to be more stable for me. They are amazing.

Let me know what questions you might have

I’m on the steeper side so I always lean towards these two brands. Did you notice a ball flight difference? I’m guessing pings flew higher and slightly more spin. I can get Srixons for about $500 cheaper in my specs. Curious if the Pings are worth the extra money.

Exactly my feeling with the zx5 mkii's!

been a minute since I've participated here. Might be buried in here, but curious about the utility and how it compares to the zxu from the previous set.

I had a chance to hit my new set that just arrived at the range today. They are very soft, and this is coming from MP-18 SC, probably moreso. I am thrilled with the feeling despite the relatively hard range balls that I have disliked with the mizuno MP 18 SC’s in the past.

They inspire confidence and fly consistently even on slight miss hits.

I will need to get used to the change from nippon 105 s to x soft stepped. With the stiff I would dig heavily but now I am taking more picker type divots, the soles don’t seem to be a pro or con yet.

I will also be bending the mid irons 2° weak so gapping is 4°across the board, srixon’s stock numbers are a big strange with 5° gaps at low irons to 3° at long.

My history:

JPX 900 Tour->P7MCs -> ZX7 MKI -> 2021 T100 -> ZX7 MKII

I want to document the comparison between the 2021 T100 and the ZX7 MKII because the opinions on here almost prevented me from getting the MKIIs even after I played the OG ZX7s for a year. I agree that they should bevel the top line (ZX7 is 0.5mm thicker in the 4I compared to the T100), but all around they are very similar in size or to the T100.  Titleist does a wonderful job of creating an optical illusion that the club is thinner than it actually is.

That's very helpful, and interesting too.

It's almost like Srixon is making cosmetic decisions to lead the user toward trusting the club more, while Titleist is trying to hide the help so playas will still bag them. 🙂

So is the general consensus here that the new ZX7 launch a bit higher and spin a bit more than last year?  I have played the last 2 blade models from Srixon with Project X so I'm curious how these match up.  I'm currently playing PXG 0211ST with KBS tour and while I like them, I kinda miss Srixon.

I would absolutely agree with this assessment. My personal experience is long irons are going a little further due to increased launch and spin, short irons (mainly PW and 9 iron) are a couple yards shorter for the same reason. I LOVE the mkII, they feel better, look a little slimmer, and are way more fun to game. I feel like I’m throwing darts right now.

After 5 rounds with the II's what I've finally realized is it seems like I am getting more consistent distances.

My ball striking has been good but the shots where I'm just missing the sweet spot are ending up very close to where I'd hoped.

I'm also able to feel where I'm hitting it on the club face easier. When missing the sweet spot I can feel where the miss was.  I'm not a fan of an iron that you can't feel where the strike on the face was.

I'm a fan. I have no desire to fiddle with another iron in hopes it might be better. I'm enjoying the fact I'm not second guessing if I'm playing the right clubs.

Had a fitting and ordered ZX5’s 11 days ago and they came in today. Maybe delivery times are just luck?

Couldn’t be happier with the feel. Hitting the sweet spot isn’t comparable to anything I’ve ever played. Need to get these out and play them on more than a monitor but could not be happier with my choice right now.

Long time Mizuno iron player. 800 Pros -> 900 Forged. Lost a bit of clubhead speed and went for an iron fitting. Assumed I would move into 923 HMP or 923 Forged just with a bit lighter shaft. But after trying both of the above, we ended up in the ZX5's with Modus 105 Stiff. They fit a nice middle ground between the two mizuno options.

Currently gaming the i230, have a set of ZX7 MKi, but just ordered some ZX7 MKii as I was able to get some at a great price... I love the OG ZX7 but I don't think the PX 5.5 I have in them is ideal and I am getting my i230 dialed in so they could be tough to beat but I love Srixon and wanted to try some MKii with a different shaft so I went Modus 120X this time.

I will report back as to how they compare to the i230.  Those have been really good, EXCEPT, from tight lies and firm conditions for me.  I did not love that turf interaction at all.  Most times I am on medium to softer conditions as we've been getting bombed with rain here in SoCal, so the i230 shine most of the time.  Looking forward to these MKii for now though.

As a lower launch/spin guy who has always wanted to try a Z-series iron, this is very encouraging to hear!

I think I'm going to rip off the bandaid and order a set this weekend.  I like my PXG 0217ST with KBS Tour but my old Srixon Z forged and Z965/765s were some of my most favorite irons ever 2nd only to my old TM RAC CB Forged.

Well after SEVEN weeks, I finally got my ZX5s.  Been a fiasco from the beginning and proven today.  Black Recoil smacwraps in 4-P and and an Ion-plated smacwrap in my AW!  WTF.  Additionally my swingweights are 2-3 pt low.

And I got a QC inspection paper signed free of charge having a mismatched shaft.

What a Joke!

I scored a set of ZX7 MKII 4-P brand new for $800 to replace my ZX5’s or combo them. Looking forward to trying them out. My club fitter was trying to talk me into the 7’s last year but I opted for the 5’s for extra forgiveness since I hadn’t played much in the last few years. Got my game in shape last season and ready to go once I get the cast off my arm.

Played 4 rounds with them last week

Pretty windy so not 100% confident on distances, but they seem to be almost exactly one club longer than my rocketbladez tours - probably part stronger lofts/tech, part lighter shafts, part them being 1/2" longer club to club

No unusual/noticable gaps going from zx4 4i to zx5 5i or from zx5 7i to zx7 8i (all at standard lofts), but I think I'm going to have to loft down the rtx6 zipcore 50 (bent to 51) to narrow a 25ish yd gap I have bt the pw and the gw
